The "get a 1C" ship has sailed. I don't think it was ever docked tbh.
Also I know I'm in the minority here but I think Zacha has WAY more to offer. He was noticeably timid when he got here and blossomed as the year went on. I legit think he could put up 70-75 point next year.

Doubt he gets that much. $4.1 on the higher end. He's a bit more proven than Gustavsson. Boston isn't getting a 1C without a major trade involving cap hits going out regardless.

Bro, you aren't getting anything for him, I want to see a pt2 where the bruins aren't being robbed. I mean more high picks, top players and prospects, you are missing so much here right now. So much potential, c'mon get you head in the game.

Early Impressions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DefenseFirst</b></div><div>Nosek is good. Don’t move him.
Frederic has another gear. We see it from time to time. Weird that everyone is losing their mind over a few good shifts in a pre-season game but completely forget that frederic has made a significant impact against actual NHL teams in the past. I think both are worth more to Boston than whatever they would get for them in trade, which honestly might look something like these trades seen here.</div></div>
I'm fine with keeping Nosek but completely disagree about Frederic. He has been in the lineup for two years regularly and has barely shown any improvement. Fringe 4th liner with almost no offense to offer, what is that "another gear"? There was a time where he was (slightly) better but Coyle and Smith did most of the job on that line. Otherwise, pretty much nothing other than killing offense on most shifts in two years. What "significant impact" has he made in the past?

Wennberg(900k retained) for Backes, Heinen and 1st.
Seems pretty fair when Toronto has to move a 1st for 1 year of Marleau at just over 6 mil.</div></div>
Leafs did not take cap space back. Backes costs less to buyout then Marleau with less cap hit. You want to use Marleau as the guide then 1st and Backes for 7th. Otherwise the return goes down as cap space coming back goes up.
Honestly, neither team does this one.
Lot better shot at Backes 2nd mid level prospect for Nash.

Trade with Minny
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>No different than any other year. Ferland is a solid middle 6 20 goal scoring wing. His value is a 2nd.</div></div>
I can't remember a time when there were 24 solid rentals potentially available in the last year of their contract. I don't think some of these guys (Duchene, Stone especially) typically end up unsigned in the last year of their contract. There is a lot more quality and quantity this year imo. Just look at 2016-2017 the big names were Shattenkirk (who sucks) and Hanzal (who sucks). This year isn't like any other year because it's nothing like that year or 2015-2016 (Kris Russell, Mikkel Boedker, Stempniak, Maroon, Staal, Schultz.... that's a lot lesser players than this year).

Big Trade to faciliate Karlsson trade
Wow... where to start?
Ok, Bobby Ryan
Idk what you’re smoking, but if some team was willing to give up TWO 2nds for Ryan, then Ottawa would’ve already sent him packing
Not only would you not even get ONE 2nd back...
Bc his contract is so horrible,
YOU would actually have to give a pick (or picks) to another team just to get rid of him
And the trade with NYR is just nuts too
MAYBE giving them Foote is enough to get them to take Callahan AND Girardi back... but i doubt it
And on top of that,
U want them to give u a pick AND a pretty good player?
Ummmm....
it’s not a video game dude
Teams aren’t giving u good picks &/or players to take on your bad contracts
It’s just not happening

All In!!
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>I don't understand why people think Backes isn't worth anything. The guy was playing at a nearly .60 P/GP place last year, he was just dealing with medical issues. I find it hard to believe that teams have no use for a guy who plays a nearly a 50pt pace, is a great locker room guy and brings a physical presence to every game he's in. For whatever reason Krejci and Backes are seen as trash/cap dumps, but both are still productive players all things considered.</div></div>
the problem isn't how backes plays, we all love him when hes out there squashing heads and being his beast self. His role as a third line leadership guy kicking in maybe 30 to 40 pts just isn't worth 6 million bucks. he was never a great skater and is getting slower. I like him and if he was 4.25 million a season most people would too.
