Keeping Rust
Signing a back up goalie for $3M is the biggest waste of cap space ever. Fleury is not coming back. Might pull a Cam Ward and sign a 1 day here, but that’s it.

IMO it's 3 throwaway players. None of these players are impact NHL players.
Toronto is giving up a 2nd/3rd round pick in exchange for 1.3 Million next year (Since Ritchie can simply be buried). IMO not worth it, but that's what happens when you're on the cap limit.

a move i like to see
I wouldn't do this. First off I think the Sens will keep Paul. Secondly, I think Ottawa just doesn't get good value for what they give. Kappy is younger, but the gap between him and Connor Brown as players is significant, and the other pieces just aren't tremendously interesting. Heinen is solid, but for a non playoff team not really a super intriguing piece, and Friedman is a depth player. Only way it ever makes sense to move Brown is if they're going to flip the 1st + you could get for him for a more impact offensive RW, and even then, I think Ottawa would be better served trying to find that impact RW AND keep Brown.

Lehkonen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>Lehkonen is basically what ZAR would be if he could score and Poulin IS NOT our best prospect. Right now Puustinen, DOC and Zohorna have surpassed him in the forward department. Lehkonen would be a dynamite 3rd line for this team.</div></div>
omg.
Please stop. It's just embarassing.
You are comparing a 25 year old to a 20 year old player in his first AHL season. DOC is 23, Puustinen is 22.
Just stop.
The pens "fans" on this board are getting ridiculous. The over reaction to every little thing is just insane. Kap must go, Zucker is a huge cap dump, Poulin is a bust trade him now, not our top prospect look at a marginal 25 year old player! Here you can take him for nothing.
This is a horrible trade for the penguins and even MTL knows it.
None of this makes the pens a better team

useful swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mike384</b></div><div>I wanted to move a LD from Pittsburgh, Pettersson has a longer contract that we don't need, Soucy's contract will expire when Joseph should be ready for NHL. I also wanted to add players which are harder to play against. I don't see any reason why Pettersson shoud be an issue for Seattle.</div></div>
Well he's not exactly an issue, but the reason why they'd not take him in is exactly the same why you'd move him - it'd cause a logjam of LHDs there. Giordano, Dunn, Oleksiak, Pettersson/Soucy, Lauzon, Fleury. All of them are LHDs and in need of NHL time. In this regard it would make sense for them to deal a LHD for prospects, and since aside from Giordano and Soucy all of them are either young LHDs themselves or extended long-term they are the most logical options to move.

NSH has a glut of bottom six options right now. ZAR would be a healthy scratch more often than not. Friedman and Lafferty don't provide any value for NSH either. The Preds seem pretty high on Myers, given the price they paid for him. I don't think Myers currently getting scratched is much of an indication the Preds would be interested in moving him. More so that they want him to unlearn some of his Philly coaching and work on a few things before he goes back in the lineup, so he can excel when he's back on the ice.

My take on this is that it doesn't have to do with Sheahan who can be a 4C on many teams.
Seattle have plenty of those low/fringe line-up players already, but they can’t help at center during Gourde injury because wings sucks so much (JVR & Tarasenko anyone?).
I voted NO because if you still need to sign a UFA 4th line center after an expansion draft, wtf have you been doing with your picks?

Sad to see Helmer go, but Colorado got a good bottom six piece here. He can kill penalties as a good defensive forward, and he's still got the speed to create some breakaways, except he won't score on them because of his stone hands. Good luck with the Avs, Helm!

Van with the next L on the list
Toffoli could have been in a Canucks Jersey rn along with Tanev
While Van has 26mill in cap space Hughes and Petterson are gonna eat a large portion along with Dickenson. Then they got to replace Holtby. So that space is gonna be gone quickly. Also you got to replace Schmidt and sure they are bringing back Schenn but okay you need a defensively minded top 4 Dman. Dont think were gonna see an improvement in Vancouver's GA.
Demko good luck man
