Pens won't take Bouma, not sure they want Shinkaruk either. Probably just MAF+1st for 1st+2nd will be good enough for the Pens

Caps 2017-2018 Team 2
My post is going to be filled with uncostractive criticism, but screw that, this team deserves it.
Arizona trade - what? Why would ARI do that?
TJ probably won't come cheaper than 6m for 6-8yrs.
Orlov at almost 6m for 5y! That deal would instantly become Phaneuf-level bad
Burakovsky will get a bridge deal @2.5-3m
Kuzy aint going below 6m

ANA would laugh hard at that offer; both Theodore AND Vatanen - no way. Maybe one of them + something else, but both - you'd have to add Drouin there

Prospect Team
Yeah, the prespect looks bleak once again. Good thing we have a great big club as a consolation prize! (no snark, just joking)
Sprong and Jarry are the only players, who are set to make impact at NHL level. Simon and ZAR will be given a fair chance too, but who knows how they will fare. Lukas is intriguing, but who knows how his illness turns out. All others will be 4th line level at best (though obviously anyone can catch a lightning in a bottle and become next Rust)
Pavlychev is interesting prospect - not much skill/speed there, but with that size all you need to do is be smart enough; maybe he can become our Boyle?

Galchenyuk is no worse than Duchene, no idea why Canadiens hate him, but that trade would be a net loss for Montreal

Hot And Spicy
Good trade for the Pens and might actually work from Calgary point of view, but I'm sure Flames fans will come in screaming they are good balancing between missing the play-offs and getting swept due to questionable goaltending.
My take re: resignings - Dumo ain't gonna take a bridge, I think he gets same deal as Maatta with one less year. Bonino won't take that, I think his minimum is 3.5 per 4, I actually think he signs with someone else unless we trade Hags and give his money to Nick. Schultz will go for a longer deal, I'd say ~6 years, but hopefully not much more expensive - 5m max imho. Sheary is close, might be 2 years instead of 3.

I'd swap Sheary and Horny as Sully did in G5. Sheary is either playing hurt or is exhausted, he should benefit from easier competition and minutes, and he can bring a spark to the 3d line, while Horny brings muscles to the 1st line.
Kunitz-Cullen-Kuhnhackl is solid and a significant upgrade over Rowney, but I don't really remember Kuni2 playing RW except for juniors, maybe we will have to move Kunitz to 3d line and play Wilson on 4th line RW, dunno.
And who knows what happens to Hags, maybe he'll be back in the lineup by G1 if Toronto manages to push for the seventh game

Better scenario(Hawks get Thornton to sign cheap to win a cup possibly, and add
Sharks are better than Hawks right now and will be better next year too, I see no reason why Thornton would go from last years SC finalist to a team, the had two times in a row first round exit, including a sweep this year

This is so realistic.
Both Dumo and Schultz are already on bridge contracts. Dumo will get something around 4x5, and Jultz 4.5-5x5. Both Bonino and Sheary may get 0.5-1m more each too. Good thing we have cap space room if Vegas indeed takes Hags

Building on jacobzentner's idea...
Yeah, that can actually work. Again, there are two conditions:
1. How much of a fit MP is to Pens system: he has great advanced stats and scouting reports, but I only saw him ~5 times in the last two years. I would need my scouts to give their right arms that MP>Bonino-Bonino-Bonino
2. And then again: would we really trade Murray? There is defenitely a scenario in which this has a good chance of happening, but that scenario includes MAF backstopping us to a title defense and getting Conn Smythe along the way :)

Murray Deal?
Wow, that's a lot of interesting ideas.
I doubt Stanley is a good fit for our speed-based system, and 'Peg is unlikely to trade a 64p ELC Ehlers. Maybe Trouba straight-up?
<strong>gojetsgo</strong>'s offer is interesting, but it doesn't really address our needs. We have more than enough skilled wingers -> no need for Connor; Stanley is not a great fit for our system; zero need in golie prospects. I would defenitely take this trade <strong>if</strong> I believe in Fleury will be near elite for the next 1-2 years and Jarry can become a legit above-average NHL-goalie, but still there might be a better trade to find.
If I trade Murray, I look at cost-controlled two-way centers who can play our third-line and mesh with Kessel if needed. J. Staal trade w/ salary retained by Canes has already been discussed, don't have any other targets on top of my mind.
Re: ANA&BUF trades: I honestly think those deals are unneccesary, I believe Maatta will rebound & Sprong is going to have a great future alongside Geno or Sid, but I won't argue much there.

Playoff Lines
Love those combos.
Sid and the Kids is non-disputably at that point, even though I was a sceptic and wanted Horny back. Hags-Malkin-Horny is not and ideal line, but they worked pretty well together and the skillsets compliment each other well, they should get a lot of chances - question is if Hags and Horny find their scoring touches and start burying all the golden chanses Geno creates. Wilson worked really well with Bonino and Kessel this year, and he has lots of skill relative to his scorecard, he gotta start getting points at some point. And then Kuhnhackl-Cullen-Rust line was really impressive last year, and they gotta be even better this year, as they gained more experience and Rust obviously has become more of a "skilled" player.
The D pairings obviously take a huge hit with Letang out, but thats a pretty solid defense too. Cole-Schultz is an obvious choice, then you should avoid Maatta-Daley pairing at all costs. Maybe try Dumo-Maatta together as a shutdown pairing? They meshed really well in their limited time, and then Hainsey can bail Daley out. But that's debatable, I don't have a good answer here.
Overall I really like this lineup. Letang would have been huuuuge bonus, but we're really good nevertheless. Let's Go Pens!

That's defenitely a fresh and interesting view. The signings are good, although Hainsey may get a better offer in the market. Sprong is a fairly risky bet (with a huge upside though), but I really like this. Simon/Archi/Blueger add depth to the roster in case of injuries + they might bring Kunitz back as an insuranse option.
Interesting to see what Toronto and Calgary think of this.

Buffalo And Dallas Trades
I don't like the Girgensons trade. Why would we give away two picks, albeit low rounds yet still valuable, and a potentially huge payoff Pouliot* for someone, who can easily be replaced by Sundqvist/cheap UFA? I know Girgs is an All-Star, but come on, he hasn't hit 20 points since that season
The Dallas trade would be a steal for the Pens, Johns is their top D-prospect, +2 second rounds... dunno, we'll have to wait till offseason for that, but I doubt MAF gets anything more than one 2 round pick - not because he is not worth that, but simply due to market conditions
The Darling signing seems fair and could be a great move
* - I know he is almost in the "bust" territory, but if he can get his game together, he can still be a great player. He is still younger than Dumo was when he started playing, and he is younger than our other "top" prospects on D - Bengston and Taylor.

This D is nowhere close to being contender-level without Kris</div></div>
you are out of your mind if you think Letang is on the same level as those two.. There are probably at least 10 other defensemen I'd take over Letang and there probably isn't more than one or two forwards I'd take over either one of those kids...</div></div>
They are probably better on a pure skill vs skill basis, but if we are looking at value they would bring to the Pens team - they are not a huge upgrade over Letang.
I'm not saying this would be a fair deal - it would defenitely be unfair to Oilers/Toronto, but this is the kind of value you got give to make Pens move Kris
