He makes the same mistakes all young dmen do. Also, who other than Seider is ready to make the jump to the NHL?

He makes mistakes that every young dman makes lmao. Quinn Hughes looks lost every time he steps into the defensive zone but I'm sure you'd love to have him. Dermott only makes mistakes when he tries to do too much, as he did in game 6. When he keeps his game simple, he looks really good. Your team actually sucks and should jump at the chance to get any young player with good potential.

Last year it was a 4th to retain 2.5 and 1.25 million on Foligno for both CLB and SJ. I don't know what you are smoking but Dermott has more value than a 4th. Retaining small amounts of salary for 1 season doesn't come at a big cost.

Dude dermott would be your 3rd maybe even 2nd best d this year behind seider for sure and maybe hronek. I think you would take a 23-24 year old who's already established as a NHL dman and who has top 4 puck-moving two way dman potential for basically free

I understand the other 2, but Dermott is 24 years old, already proven he can be an NHL dman, and has a good chance of being a good puck-moving, two-way top 4 dman if given the minutes. The redwings d was atrocious last season, why wouldn't you want him?

Uhhh Marner is the better player by a fair amount and sutter isn't the gm. Liljegren will be a good top 4 dman, for sure a full time NHLer he just hasn't gotten a shot to prove himself yet.

Even then soucy is worth more than 3rd round pick
2) At this point Kerfoot is nothing more than a cap dump for Toronto because 100 percent he's getting selected on Toronto. He's also not a c. With his contract, & especially cap, no wild wouldn't want him. They have enough bottoms line players who are better than Kerfoot</div></div>
Ah, yes, the guy who played the best hockey of his career in the playoffs as a 2C with good offensive linemates isn't a C. Also soucy was a cap dump, Hunt makes way less AAV.

He's a 3rd liner on a good team, a 2nd on a bad team, a first liner on no team.</div></div>
I agree. However, I wanted to give Boqvist a veteran partner, and Keith is barely an NHL level dman at this point. De Haan was my only choice.

Their d is atrocious which is why I can see them doing that. It’s an overpay for sure but a realistic one based on their needs.

There is obvious weakness on the right side, especially if Nylander is a bust and Guadette is tweener. Not sure Borgstrom is going to be anything either. To many "what if's" not to sign him.
Lastly, De haan is not a first liner and Beaudin still needs time in the AHL. Kalynuk has shown he's further into his development and should be playing as such.</div></div>
I am trying to tank, and it’s smarter to give Nylander and Gaudette good minutes instead of the already developed Hinostroza. De Haan is by far the best LD on the team, so he is playing on the first pair. DeAngelo is only for the 2nd, he will not play for the team.

Neither GM is dumb enough to even try it.

No, trades like that happen. Maybe the Leafs would have to get a 3rd party involved so it goes toronto, detroit (retention), 3rd team, toronto but salary trades are legal. It's literally salary retention

The wings are taking on 3.5 million dollars of cap hit from marner and nylanders contracts. For some reason, I can't trade the players to detroit then trade back for them with retained salary. I had to improvise so that I could actually have the saved salary in effect. In the NHL you can trade someone and then trade back for them but not on cap friendly.

Its not retained salary its part of the salary the leafs traded away because you can't trade straight salary so I had to be creative to get the salary the leafs save. Read the description and the trade description
