Do you value prospects and draft picks as nothing? Additionally, as mentioned above, Engvall is not a useless piece, especially on a rebuilding team like CHI. I may be off on the value of the trade but to say a package consisting of Engvall, Abramov, Liljegren, and a 2nd/1st round pick is "a bunch of nothing", seems like a bigger issue lol.

Lol, that's silly. I understand that he's capped out as a 4th liner but to say he's an AHL player on any other team seems like a senseless comment. There are many worse teams in the league than the leafs, including the CHI, who could definitely use a guy like him.

Engvall is an NHL player that can play both C and W, Abramov is still in juniors, Liljegren is a defensemen, and don't overlook the conditional 2nd round pick, which hawks could use after that spicy meatball of a Jones trade.
Essentially, Engvall, Abramov, and a 2nd/1st = Strome and 6th; Liljegren = Nylander

Agreed. Heard something about him potentially coming back to TO; though it was from Steve Simmonds, so take that as what it is. If he did want to come back I think the number makes sense; CBJ aren't likely going to compete if Jones gets moved this summer, and Foligno may be looking for cup contender rather than a rebuilder. 2m x 1 or maybe 2.5 x 2 seems like solid value for what he currently contributes at 34 years old. Depends what happens in CBJ I guess..

Clearly he didn’t say this was the exact trade offer or anything but isn’t that the point of this forum, to play with hypothetical trade ideas? He mentioned the possibility of something with TOR and NSH and just because he didn’t confirm the exact pieces doesn’t mean people can’t enjoy mock trades such as this one.

Take a look at their NHL career stats real quick. If anything Johnsson posts a stronger PPG than Anderson. One season doesn’t define a trade.

I bet he’d provide more than AA did for you guys, and that cost only cost two 2nd’s and Sam Gagner, right?

Okay so maybe don’t resign Rodrigues/spezza and sign a more suitable 3c in FA. Bracco is still a young prospect if you don’t know who he is, he is pretty talented. Just needs to find his way in a new system imo.

I don’t think any NHL player has 0 trade value. With that being said Rosen is a depth guy for CBJ and Bracco has great talent just needs a fresh start in another org, maybe Torts can get it out of him.
As far as Boro, i like the signing. He has shown he can play steady top 6 defensive mins and is a leader on/off the ice. I love the way Lehtonen has played so far, but nobody knows how he adjusts to the NHL. If he plays well next season in NHL then its a good problem to have, and you can consider moving another dman like Dermott or Holl.

I’d like to agree with you but Winnipeg won’t trade Laine for market value. They will need to get an offer similar to this where a team slightly overpays, but gives the receiving team a player that when used more effectively in the lineup can become a superstar.

Listen I’m not encouraging for this to happen, as i mentioned i want Nylander and don’t think he’ll be moved. I just think you were being unreasonable in even considering a move like this. I often chose not to trade Nylander but this proposal is the most legitimate fair deal i’ve seen. Timmins looks like he could be play top 6 maybe even top 4 mins if he takes a step this season, Bowers production was based off a rookie AHL season and will continue to develop as a top 6-9 FW prospect, the late 1st gives you a trade chip to add or upgrade the lineup and lastly the cap space allows you to either sign pietro/another FA dman or afford another dman without retaining salary in a trade. Nichuskin doesn’t really matter much but would add size and goal scoring ability on a 2nd or 3rd line.
If you can name 20 more packages better than that please let me know.

Nylander
As a leafs fan who doesn’t want to trade Nylander, I think this is the most intriguing proposal i’ve seen. Knowing our trade history luck with the Avs Nylander will find a way to score like 90 points, but both teams would actually benefit from this if this allowed leafs to sign Pietro to a decent deal.

Hossa is the piece that really matters though. Unless his LTIR is insured, they may be looking for a team to take on the cash for him which does take sweeteners like Crouse.
I guess what i’m saying is that in this scenario would you rather they trade OEL or Kuemper for lesser value, or a guy like Crouse?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Britishbulldog</b></div><div>I pinned both Boston game 7 losses on Andersen not Gardiner and I don't like Gardiner. That being said with the goalie market this offseason, I definitely think Andersen is the best option for the Leafs at this point. And to your point with a better D-corps he would do better and the Leafs had most of their forwards stumble offensively these playoffs which didn't give Andersen goal scoring support.
I also feel that Sandin and Liljegren should stay in the minors all year and develop.
As for the trades, I am not sure if Larsson would be much better than Ceci at this point.</div></div>
Tough to say, both players are heavily criticized, but i feel that Larsson is better sound defensively. Worst case if they made this deal and Larsson wasn’t what they hoped, he’s only signed for the upcoming year, and they can get creative to add another dman mid season.
