Chychrun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rhfa61</b></div><div>I agree it’s a lot, but you’re not just trading for the player, you’re trading for 2 1/2 seasons of him at $4.6M ($3.5M in this trade). That low cap hit allows the Kings to resign Moore, resign Quick, extend Anderson, extend Vilardi. If Blake doesn’t trade some of these prospects, he’s going to lose them next season via waivers.</div></div>
Agree Blake has to do something about too many prospects. Getting a player like Chychrun is worth it and it partially solved the too many prospects. Posts keep saying not to take draft picks for the prospects; but trading them for prospects continues to the give the Kings depth--which was lost with Dean and it is better than losing them waivers.

I don't mind the idea of parting with Turcotte for Eichel, but every construction I've seen from Buffalo guys also includes Byfield or Vilardi or Kaliyev or Bjornfot or some combination thereof plus first-round picks for a total of four elements. Not happening. Final offer: Turcotte plus Jaret Anderson-Dolan plus Kale Clague plus our 2021 or 2022 first-round draft pick. And I bet that's more than he'll actually get when he finally IS traded.

IMO, no chance LA gets Eichel without giving up one of Byfield or Turcotte. To get quality, you got to give up quality. While yes I understand LA has other quality pieces, none of which are even close to Eichel.
LA would have to give up like Turcotte + 2021 + 2022 first to even sniff Eichel, but that’s just my opinion.

Not sure if you can get him without Byfield or Turcotte going the other way

Should the Kings offersheet Mikheyev
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PinkWhitney</b></div><div><a href="/users/Jamiepo" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Jamiepo</a> thoughts on Mikheyev?</div></div>
Mikheyev I think show short bursts of his ceiling. He is an older rookie obviously. See him as a 40-50 point two way player. Good decisions nice hands.
Blake and dubas have a good relationship so I don’t see this as realusyic. An offersheet like this would certainly handcuff the leafs a bit. Dubas values Mikheyev as both a player and a person so I think he matches and moves Johnsson.
On the other side of the coin I don’t think Mikheyev signs it. I think what dubas did for Mikheyev has earned his loyalty.

Moving forward
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GrinReaper</b></div><div>LA has 1 LD signed for this coming season with their LD being all UFA in this landscape with the flat cap with a team that’s not going to spend to the cap 1.5 mil for Dman for 6th that has no really value is a smart GM and keeps his owner happy with Development being the main focus in LA</div></div>
Blake is smart enough to know that he would be doing Edmonton a huge favor taking 4 mil cap hit off your hands. There's a price to shed cap like that, regardless of real-life salary attached to the contract.
And no, the Kings do not have only 1 LD signed next year.
Anderson is signed, MacDermid is a left defenseman and is signed (despite CapFriendly insisting he's a righty, it's not true. He shoots left and plays solely on the left side), Bjornfot is signed and is expected to get NHL time, and Clague is also a lefty who will be expected to get 20-40 games.
The Kings desire a LD vet to play next to Doughty, but they won't be doing a divisional rival a huge favor just to get that. They'd much rather let the kids sink or swim. Or go after any of the other UFA vets. Or any of the other teams willing to pay to shed their high cap hit defenseman.

LA would re-sign Hutton before they traded for Kris Russell.

NYR Draft Trade - Cap Reasons
Of all the 1OA trades on here, I actually don't hate this one haha. I don't think I'd do it, but it's definitely intriguing. I've always liked Cale Klague, since he was in junior.

NYR Draft Trade - Cap Reasons
LA could use both LW and a young possibly franchise C to take the reigns from Kopitar. C is probably way more important for NYR but theyre going to be pressured into Laf. Theyre also going to have like no money when Lafs elc is up, and that could cost them Z. Then they really wont have a C. It makes sense if we think logically, maybe work out a couple of different proposals

NYR Draft Trade - Cap Reasons
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BSpadaro83</b></div><div>Lol Rangers are giving up the best asset in the deal and the implications of trading the number 1 pick in a risk averse league all mean that the only way to actually do it is an astounding overpay. My point was LA would have to make a crazy overpay to make the deal and they wont, and NYR might not even accept the overpay anyway.</div></div>
From 1 to 2. Its not going to cost a future top 6 forward or possibly 2. Youre massively overvaluing Laf and undervaluing Stutzle and Byfield at the same time. Its logical for NY to do something like this, especially after signing Panarin

Kings Trades w NJ WPG VGK BOS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rhfa61</b></div><div>By adding Subban at $6M for 2 1/2 seasons, Kings roll out a RHD of Doughty, Subban, Walker, making their defense Top 5 again. By having a solid defense again, the Kings would take the pressure off the young guns coming up.</div></div>
I respect your opinion! Just don’t think Subban is worth that! Walker is better then Subban at this point so kings would be paying 6m for a 3rd pair guy. Just don’t believe they would do that. Especially giving up 4 young guys from their roster. Think they are better off staying the course and including guys in bigger trades or for draft picks. I actually like the way they are headed I don’t think they take on guys like Subban unless a 1st is involved. That overpayment trade to eat a contract! Otherwise they stay the course and build thru picks. I think after the expansion draft they will start being bigger players in free agency. By then they will have a solid group of prospects built up.

General Manager Rob Blake
I’m pretty sure you just dumped on Blake for being aggressive about getting this team to compete for a playoff spot when he signed Phaneuf and Kovalchuk but you believe he needs to add in free agency this coming year to what, accelerate the rebuilding process to be competitive when they were just able to admit to themselves that a rebuild is necessary. Sounds like more of the same thing. The 11 million in dead cap space is unfortunate but we probably won’t be competitive until the year after next so it’s as fortunate of a situation as you could have considering the circumstances. When that space is greatly reduced, more players are moved out, more prospects are playing and feeling more confident and everyone is on the same page about McClellans system(since we’ll be introducing new prospects to it) then I think they may try for free agency, until then they can just bid their time

Kings Trades w BOS EDM WPG COL VGK
Because Kovalchuk was on pace for 44 points last season if he played a full season and this season roughly the same so the point total since he came back to the NHL last season has been 43 points in 81 games. I imagine that’s why Kings fans say he is between a 40-50 point player
