(MIN/COL) - Duhaime for 2026 3rd (COL)
Kind of a steep price for what Duhaime is, but he will be a great addition to that bottom 6. Ive always been a fan of Duhaime, he's defensively capable and moves nicely. His first NHL goal always puts a smile on my face too, has to be one of the best 1st goals of all time

(COL/NSH) - Hanzel, 2025 3rd (COL) for Trenin, Sward
Bro why did Nashville trade Trenin when they're in a playoffs spot? It's not like the 3rd is gonna turn into the next McDavid or an useful player.

I'd say their Cup chances have improved substantially over the last 2 days.

Yes it is, Wennberg is a solid 3c and a 2nd +4th is about the going rate for that, Rangers get a good player to help their depth for a cup run, Seattle gets picks, fair deal for both sides

Kakko is not a center. AW was acquired to fill Chytl's spot as 3C.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bestgoalie33</b></div><div>Why is Nils a part of this?</div></div>
The pick being transferred to SEA is the same pick that DAL traded to NYR when DAL got Nils Lundqvist. The condition on that pick remains even when NYR trades it to SEA, so it could bump up to DAL's 3rd, but Nils would have to go on a pretty insane pace the rest of this year to hit that point total. Nils' currently at 31 regular season points for '23 and '24 so he'd need 24 more over then next 18 games. Not impossible, but highly unlikely to happen.

Tampa is last team I would think enclined to retain salary for a low pick. What am I missing here!?
Edit.: Ok, a lot of LTIR money, but since when TB doesn't use every cent of their capspace to contend?

(COL/BUF) - Byram for Mittelstadt
If I had heard before the deadline that the Avs would be trading away Byram and a 1st on the same day, I would have assumed Sakic had lost his mind, however I think we just witnessed a masterclass in asset management.
This trade isn't about the Avs pulling one over on rival GMs, they paid fair prices in both circumstances, however the trades are such a tidy fit for their organizational needs, their cap situation, their depth, their cup window, and address their weaknesses so well by trading assets that likely aren't as valuable to the Avs as they will be to other teams, that Sakic wins without having to negotiate anyone into giving him assets at rock bottom prices.
Great work for them, a real push for another cup feels imminent.

For me, I say avs win
Thet get a true 2C and in my opinion one of the most underrated players in the league
Bryam injury concerns was a valid reason to move on from him, still D-man take longer to develop. Devon Toews is the best example of being patient with d-men prospects
Also Buffalo has 2 1st overall picks that are left handed d-man in Power and Dahlin so adding another one seems a little strange
Now if Bryam was right handed I would say this is fair, but for right now I say avs win.
I'll come back to this in 3-5 years and see how much has changed

Don't understand this from the Sabres perspective. Sure Byram is great, but they already have Dahlin and Power... They must be reasonably confident that one of those three will work well on their off side.

Absolute steal for Buffalo. Don't see Mittelstadt as anything more than a fringe 2C. He'll be well insulated though. I see Byram as a future top pairing defender. Guess it's up to Buffalo to see how they can develop him though, doesn't have much opportunity.

(OTT/FLA) - Tarasenko for 2024 4th (FLA), 2025 3rd (FLA)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NorthernLeafsFan05</b></div><div>This is laughably bad for the Senators, they couldn't even pry a decent prospect out of Florida. I get that the trade protection on Tarasenkos deal allowed him to dictate where he went, but that doesn't change the fact that this trade is horrible. For crying out loud, Anthony Mantha cost the Knights more than this.
This is highway robbery for the Panthers who add another lethal offensive weapon to their already loaded forward group. At only 2.5m, he is going to be extremely valuable. If they want to buy more, they easily could (granted they don't have the money). This was a masterclass of a trade from Zito and a complete blunder by Staios</div></div>

Washington Capitals signed Rasmus Sandin (5 Years / $4,600,000 AAV)
He's regressed a little from last season with a minor drop in both his points and his on-ice goal differential. It's not a serious issue, but at his age, he should be producing more each year.
A LOT of people here are saying this will age well, but it needs to age well, because if he were being paid this much this season it would be too much. If he regresses again, then this contract will look really bad.
On the other hand, the cap is going up and there will be a ton of very silly contracts handed out, so this likely won't be the worst of them.

To get Guentzel it would've cost a 1st round pick, I think people forget that the Draft is in Vegas this year and so similar to the Rangers, they want to showboat on home turf.
