End of Rebuild Commences
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoSeider53</b></div><div>St Louis and Tampa pass.
And no Noah Hanifin and Elias Lindholm aren't signing on a rebuilding team.</div></div>
If you read the title, it signifies the end of the rebuild. Additionally, if the Flyers make the playoffs while they are technically still rebuilding, I feel like that's a good sign for UFA's to see that their exiting that stage of this new regime. Pretty common sensical here.

Schmidt sucks and Stanley is a 7D worth pocket change. Both Walker and Seeler are MARGINALLY better than both and would only enhance WPG's D core.
Your only proof of otherwise is the fact that you're bias.</div></div>
That's what I thought honestly. Adding Walker and Seeler definitely improve the defense, while getting out of a big cap hit and losing a mid 20's once former prospect. A 1st is big, but it's going to be a late one, no where near the lottery, and the Jets are definitely a contender with a goalie like Hellebuyck. I'm shocked that Jets fans wouldn't want to do this.

Why does everyone make all the picks in each year correspond with each other in these trades. This never happens.

If people thought Risto was worth a 1st +, a resurgent Sean Walker on a cheap cap hit, who has clearly shown he can handle top 4 minutes, would be a real asset for a team. There will be several suitors, which I imagine will drive to price up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BleedOrange23</b></div><div>I'm going to disagree, Lily is an interesting player but he is a 4/5 at best IMO and not worth a 1st. That is what we should be targeting or a combination of picks and players worth a 1st. I believe Attard will be in Philly by the end of the season. Both Andrae and Grans have there moments in LHV. If we are looking for a player in return for Walker it should be a young center not a defenseman.</div></div>
I think he has the potential to be a top 4 pairing dman in this league and he showed flashes towards the end of the year last year and a little in the playoffs. I think he is going to build on that moving forward. I honestly don't see it in Attard or Andrae, so my faith is a bit less than yours.
Regarding the young center, I completely agree, but we're not getting a young center in that ilk in a trade around Sean Walker, that's just not going to happen.

It's not that far off, if Laughton was having the year he had last year some would say it may be an overpay, especially where Broberg was then, who hasn't really been that much better this year. At the very worst you turn the 2nd into a 3rd but even so, it's a 2026 pick. Additionally, you know that the first is going to be a very late one, somewhere between 28-32 most likely. Id say this return is absolutely fine.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BleedOrange23</b></div><div>I dont think Philly would do this deal either, they are looking for prospects and picks. Plus the main reason that Walker is being shopped is we have too many defenseman on the NHL roster.</div></div>
Idk actually, he seems to fit the Flyers timeline, 24 y/o right now, wouldn't break the bank on a contract extension, and maybe the Leafs did all the work for us and we get another young, inexpensive, talented dman. We're looking at Sanny, Drysdale and York for a while clearly, I think all the other d spots are up in the air. And it's not like Attard, Grans, and Andrae are banging down the door.
To me, Risto and Seeler aren't part of the long term plans, Zamula may stick, but also a question mark. I think Bonk is a big part of the future as well but he will likely not be up until Michkov, perhaps a year prior but again, who knows.

We probably aren't letting Walker go for less than a 1st, I'm sure there will be loads of interest for a low cap hit bonafide top 4 dman. If it's gonna be a second, it has to be in this draft and another 2nd in the future or at the very least a '23 3rd and a prospect

Yeah I could have lowballed him, not sure how the market would be for one really good year for a mostly defensive dman turning 30 years old - but I could be a mil-ish off there. I thought the term would've off set that. We'll see for sure.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hckeydude123</b></div><div>Bro Atkinson has a 5.8m cap hit, at 50% retained the team still gets hit with 2.9m in cap. The Kings have 100K in cap space, what part of this cap space thing are you not understanding? Even if Atkinson got double retained 50% by PHI and 50% by someone else the Kings still can't fit him on the roster. Unless the Kings trade or send down Avidsson/Moore/Fiala/Kempe then Atkinson doesn't fit on the roster at 1.5m and all those guys are far more valuable than Atkinson could possibly be. So yes if someone goes down in the playoffs the Kings have no choice but to call up a rookie which is exactly why they have been playing JAD Fa-g-emo Laferriere and Kaliyev all season long as a precaution.</div></div>
Lets see how that works out for ya guys, obtuse people all over the place. The cap goes up next year and the year after genius, holy ****!

Yeah Arvidsson is back, what happens when someone else goes down and you're down 2-1 in the playoffs, you wanna bring up a rookie??? His cap hit is basically 1.5mm, you guys can easily shed that. Can never have too much depth in the playoffs, and you guys have an unreal defense, but can't put the puck in the back of the net. Ergo, get cheap, experienced scoring. Kings fans should be happy to not have you in charge of the team. He also has an expiring contract next year and will be less than 3mm for that year, so no worries about the cap space. Or just waste another year by not supplementing your lineup for anything unforeseen happening.

Arvidsson is about to come back and when he does the Kings won't be able to even keep scratches around because of how little cap space they have. Once Arvidsson comes back they have around 100k in cap space with a 20-man roster. Kings decline this trade.</div></div>
I left out it would've been 50% retained, and with the cap hit being even lower half way through the season, I'm sure they wouldn't mind giving up a 3rd. No downside to adding a respected veteran guy who can score, injuries happen all the time as you clearly have shown.

Jake Allen sucks, he's barely an upgrade over anyone in our system. Ersson has more value half way through his rookie campaign already. We have so many goalies in the pipeline, it makes zero sense to attach a first for Cal Petersen when we don't need to move him, he's not affecting the cap to where it's hurting us. We're not even in win now mode, we're in a rebuild, you don't get rid of firsts so haphazardly like this. Thats reason number 1....

I would be fine with Andrae or Brink, but Foerster would give me a little pause. However, with a chance for a player like him, can you really pass him up? Guy has had 4 seasons putting up at least 105 points, and the one season he didn't reach that he had 84 points in like 55 games. He also had 32 points in 16 playoff games two years ago, and he has proven time and time again he does not rely on McDavid, he is this good on his own. You could almost call him a generational talent in my eyes - he may only be half way done his career and has almost 800 points. He's insane.
