taking advantage of the expansion draft
Oilers can’t afford to do that. If you want that quality of a return for MAF gotta be taking neals contract or work out a deal involving kosk that’s just too much money going one way Edmonton just can’t do it.

I mean no offense but this team as it's currently constructed won't make the playoffs to see Klef play - even though your in the Pacific - Sharks will be better, LA is better, Anaheim is better. Oil are basically the same but weaker on D.

Mcdavid makes players top line wingers. Look at maroon. Jp getting a shot at mcdavid's line depends on whether mcdavid wants to play with him because in 2017-18 and 18-19, mcjesus didn't want to play with him you never know

Arizona is nearly bankrupt just wait there will be a selloff to get to the cap floor. You trade kuemper for Kris Russell's contract which is 4M cap but only 1.5 million left to be paid and you get a first round pick. There is no chance you get anyone like RNH and there is no chance you could afford him either unless his contract is heavily front loaded. It isn't btw. Goalies are typically traded for a pick or prospects, you are starting a rebuild, and due to your internal testing policy you have very few picks to bolster your team and keep your cap expenditure low. The other thing is if you keep kuemper you will lose him or Hill in the expansion draft.

Nurse will get between 6.0-6.5 on a long term deal.

Because his closest comp is Josh Morrissey.

tor deal this summer

is Johnsson actually much better? stats wise it appears like Kapanen will put up slightly more points, is Johnsson more physical?
either way i think either one of them would be an upgrade in the middle 6 and we need to move benning to make space for some of the younger guys.</div></div>
Johnsson has produced no matter who he plays with, while Kapanen (prior to this year at least) produced pretty poorly unless he was playing with Matthews. Johnsson drives play, Kapanen is a complimentary player.

I'm skeptical about Marody panning out as a 3C. He has poor skating. I hope he makes it but I think he's likely going to be playing wing if he doesn't improve his skating.

I like the reasoning but I don't like you've got Benson, Jones, and Marody all slated in your roster. IMO they need another year in the AHL to prove this year wasn't a fluke. Let them develop and then push for spots next March

Columbus declines that trade pretty quickly.... we need more forwards, not defensemen. Sorry but Jenner is more important to Columbus future then Bear would be and Manning is pretty bad, almost a cap dump... sorry

We can debate if there will be any offer sheets (I don’t think there will be) but even if there is it’s gotta be something that the leafs can’t refuse, if you made it 4.1 mil and gave up a 1st and a third the leafs don’t match but they will absolutely match this and if it puts them over the cap then they will Trade kappy for a lot more than a 2nd

small deals with tor and nash
Connor Brown alone isn't worth a 2nd rounder in my opinion. Think about Tyler Benson or Ryan McLeod. Would you trade either for Connor Brown?
Benning for Brown 1 for 1 is the deal that was going around and EDM didn't even take it. I think this is because they value 6D better than a 9F.
The only fair deal for Brown is for a 3rd rounder imo because we could easily find his type in FA without having to spend any assets.

I believe you are paying to much for the Nashville trade. I would take Bear out of the Equation and put a third or second in his place. Toronto trade is not bad for the Oilers. I don't think Toronto would do it though. Also, Marody shouldn't be up in the league yet or you will rush him as we did to Puljujärvi. I do agree with how you were targeting teams with Cap space issues next year. Teams with cap will take advantage of that. But the Oilers will have to get rid of those contracts before we do trading.

I won't whine. I won't even complain. If our scouts tell us that Benning can do the job as a #2 or #3 RhD, then I would agree to this deal. Despite the fact that both of my local teams are in Edmonton's division, I don't know enough about him to advance an intelligent, informed opinion on his playability.
