Sabres would accept on the basis that they cannot sign Ullmark. He fills the void in net at a fair price for the next several seasons. I would much rather see the Sabres trade for Korposolo out of Columbus but this isn't terrible.

No from Buffalo. If the Eichel deal does not have either Suzuki or Caufield don't waste time putting it together. That is the starting point. In addition, if GM Kevin Adams does not want to see fans picketing in front of the arena next year he will not trade within his own division after the Taylor Hall debacle this year.

He is not an elite player, i am not disputing that. The compensation you are trying to send back in return does not fix any of the issues plaguing the Sabres. Try targeting the Sabres clear weaknesses and depth issues primarily goaltending. I see Fucale sitting there one the Caps roster would definitely make that part of the deal.

These trades are both fair IMO</div></div>
Here is the issue you clearly forget how hard it was for Buffalo to get a true #1 center after the departure of Brier. Buffalo gave up O'Reilly for a boatload of stuff it took years for Tage Thompson to start blossoming. The reason you see what you consider unreasonable is because #1 centers are incredibly difficult to find. If the Sabres do not get a #2 center or a prospect that projects to either be a first or second line center is not a deal worth making. That is where i would start because those were the lessons learned from the O'Reilly trade.
As far as Reinhart, he just started playing center for the Sabres which provides insulation for Mittelstadt and Cozens so they dont have to be thrust into positions they are not ready for. If Reinhart is going to be traded i think a big portion of this decision will depend on Buffalo getting either the 1st or 2nd pick in the draft this year. If Buffalo takes an NHL ready defenseman like Owen Power then i would think they are set on the left side.
As for Ristolainen Buffalo does not need more picks they need a goalie.

Please for the love of all that is holy NO!!! None of these trades work in Buffalo's favor at all. If you don't have rival fans saying no to an Eichel deal it is not worth making.

No from Buffalo. So Buffalo is supposed to give up one of its 1st or 2nd line players for Washington's worst defenseman, a prospect that isnt close to ready, and a first round pick around #20 overall. If GM Kevin Adams makes this move Sabres fans with literally sacrifice him to the hockey gods.

Buffalo rejects. Also even though Reinhart played center most recently for the Sabres he usually plays right wing for Eichel. I would not trade for him with the intent to make him my #1 center.

Keeping Eichel and Building Around Them
The Sabres don't have to give up anything to get Seattle to take any of our players. Buffalo can easily protect its value players in the expansion draft and force Seattle to take either Eakin, Okposo, Miller, or even Ristolainen. Obviously the Sabres don't want Eakin here next year they can buy out his remaining contract for a cap it of somewhere around $500,000 which is nothing.

I'm not saying that can't happen, it could easily happen. In most cases this might be enough but right now with the apathy among the fan base in Buffalo right now if GM Kevin Adams gets anything less than what appears to be a win in a trade for either Eichel or Reinhart if they decide to trade them, i think the fans will literally set fire to the arena. The O'Reilly trade and recent Taylor Hall trade have fans completely fed up and GM Kevin Adams along with the owners know this.

Trades w/ CAR, NYR, NYI, ARIZ
How does my quote have no basis? In addition to Paul Hamilton even GMJB and Phil Housley have said similar things in recent interviews about the team speed issues. The team is far to slow. Up from Reinhardt, Okposo, ROR, Pomminville are way to slow. Okposo has no value at this point so he is not worth trading. Reinhardt is young and was on a roll at the end of last season so i prefer not to trade him. Pomminville has one more year left. Does ROR add a lot yes but what he lacks in speed is detrimental to the team up front. In addition, we have no left wingers on this team to pair with Eichel or ROR at this point. I do think he is valuable and i still question whether or not the Sabres should trade him at all because we know exactly how hard it is to find centers with his production. I'm not sure that Mittelstadt is ready for that role on the team already. In fact i'm positive he is not ready.
I just noticed that Skinner was only signed to one more year so i would agree now that i look at it a little closer it seems kinda pointless taking him at all. The Sabres would trade Kane just to end up in a similar situation again because i would agree i dont think it is worth paying Skinner $6.5 million for the production he has put up lately.

Did you watch Risto in his own zone this year? He was a disaster for a good chunk of the year. I will agree that the Sabres cannot afford to give up the right handed defenseman but the idea that ROR is vastly superior to Skinner is laughable. ROR's greatest value comes only by the fact that he is a center. He is incredibly slow and that was problematic for the Sabres all last year. Paul Hamilton said it this morning on WGR550 "Every time the Sabres played a team with speed they got crushed". He was 100% correct on that i went and watch games all season where the Sabres were far to slow. The Sabres need speed desperately and Skinner adds that speed.
How about this lets agree that the primary portion of this trade needs to revolve around ROR and Skinner after that the rest should involve maybe McCabe and Faulk and some picks or prospects.

An interesting proposal. I think you are giving up a lot for Hoffman especially after this latest news story but that said i dont think you are giving up anything that Columbus cant live without. I do see Foligno on the fourth line an i ask myself why bother keeping him at this point if you are going to place him on the fourth line it seems like maybe he could be moved as well. I do realize he is the captain and all but to put a player that is making $5.5 million on your 3rd or 4th line kinda seems like a waste.

I agree with the Canes fan on this even being a Sabres fan. The Canes do need an upgrade at center but not to the point where you give up a future franchise defenseman and your top winger. I think that what needs to happen is that you recognize that the most you can get for ROR in this deal is either Skinner or Halifin not both. The idea the McCabe is a top four defenseman is laughable. I went to enough games last year and came to the realization that at least at this point McCabe is a strong 3rd line defenseman that in times of need can sub in on the 2nd line.
From the Sabres perspective i will say that if the Sabres do decide to trade ROR to Carolina that the return of just Skinner is not enough. I know Canes fans this sounds absolutely crazy given the amount of points Skinner has put up in recent years but the fact of the matter is that Skinner is a wing and ROR is a center. Centers are worth their weight in gold just ask the Sabres who had to give up a crazy amount of assets to get ROR and give up an entire season to get Jack Eichel. This being said i think that if this trade were to be fair for both sides then the trade would need to be ROR and Ristolainen for Skinner, Halifin, and some form of cap dump comming towards Buffalo to even out the cap numbers. Either that or the Sabres retain some salary.

Ok as a Sabres fan im intrigued by the offer but it is a very firm no. Lets look at O'Reilly by himself, at a minimum he will fetch Hintz and Honka and probably Faksa. Ristolainen would fetch the same kind of deal. The Sabres really don't need to get rid of Bogosian that badly. I know you must see Bogosian and O'Reilly as the albatross around Buffalo collective neck they are not. The idea that O'Reilly is a cap dump is crazy. That said i do like the idea of Hintz and Honka but it would require more just to get O'Reilly. As for Spezza and Hanzal no way.
A general rule of thumb on real hockey trades is that you must give up something that is valuable to get something of value.

Realistic changes trades with Columbus and Pittsburg
The only concern i have about O'Reiley in Columbus is his skating speed. Its kinda funny you mention salary retention i figure that might be an issue but i thought that if I took on Foligno and Jenner's contract then that would be enough but i definitely understand. I don't think giving up the captain signals a rebuild i think its more of a retool. Is Foligno really that much of a cornerstone in that franchise?

Nylander wont be ready for a few more years and its pretty discouraging for most Buffalo fans. He will develop eventually into a decent winger but Buffalo needs more now.
