Domi and Bjugstad for Playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kyle_Davidson</b></div><div>Trade us good from CHI pov. Just wonder if we are in a rush to simply arms against the rangers.</div></div>
Eh it's less about the Rangers, who I'm not totally worried about outside of Shesterkin, and more just improving on some weaknesses for us.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ginandtacos</b></div><div>Wood is an interesting potential reclamation project. Obviously the 2nd is the key to the trade, but yeah I'd do this.</div></div>
I tried to make it as good for you guys as possible without going overboard. Wood, honestly you should probably just try to flip for a pick if possible. I mostly included him for cap reasons. He's not very good but his size and speed would be attractive to some GMs.

Mantha to NJ for Playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Is he any good though? Surely there are better, cheaper, options.</div></div>
He's probably not worth 5.7 right now, but he was on average a 2.3 GSVA player and averaged a 55 point pace over the previous 3 seasons. I think he could get back close to that with us. Not many guys available with that kind of upside with size, and relatively cheap, trade asset wise. He's missed a bunch of time recently but it's a relatively low risk, high reward swing, that, at worst is only on the books for another season.

Theoretically we could make this same trade with no retention. There's space. But a 3rd/2nd and a decent prospect in Foote for retaining 1.5 million feels pretty fair no?

We're a touch short on those first round picks. As for better prospects, That's fine. Anyone not named Hughes, Nemec or Holtz would be on the table.

He might say this but if we’re as interested in Meier (and resigning Bratt) as the reports indicate, it doesn’t really matter. Both are gonna cost at least 8, maybe more.

Devils add Meier in the Offseason

Reinhart = late 1st, wildcard prospect

Which high end forwards got equivalent to Sharangovich, Holtz, 1st?</div></div>
Eichel and a 3rd got Tuch, Krebs, 1st and 2nd
Krebs < Holtz
Tuch > Sharangovich
1st = 1st
Extra 2nd.
But realistically I only did this trade to avoid Sharks fans coming in here up in arms over what a ridiculously bad offer this is. I don’t actually think Meier would cost this much. Especially with some reports coming out that he’d cost less that DeBrincat (which I find unlikely but nevertheless)

This would be a great deal for us.
Nemec and Holtz are great prospects, but our right side is still Dougie-Marino and losing Nemec means we could potentially have long term space for Severson or someone else (Casey, UFA, etc). Adding EP to the forward core is a direct massive upgrade to Holtz and the two 1sts are gonna be late firsts cause EP makes this team insane.
This is a really easy yes imo.

Add Meier Keep Tatar

I don’t think it’s that bad. Downgrade from this season, probably but the pieces are there to be good. Luke will probably have some growing pains but should be great offensively from the get go. Bahl has looked very good in a bottom pairing role, and while I think we can do better than Smith, he’s also been mostly fine in a 3rd pair role.
I will say I think it’s more likely we don’t sign Tatar and resign Graves instead.

Yeah that’s fair. Production wise he’s producing at the 4th best rate of his career, which is definitely good. Again, I just can’t see him getting more money than what he got the last time he was a UFA. Maybe he gets the same deal though.

Maybe, maybe not. I just added the 3rd to make it a good trade for both sides, I don’t think that’s too much considering the player we’d be getting back.
Do we NEED Meier, probably not. But there’s money and players coming off the books next year and we might look a bit different. Adding Meier gives us a 2nd elite winger that would really put us over the edge in terms of competing for a cup over the next 5-7 years.

Frankly I only added the 3rd to make an obviously fair trade that wouldn’t get bombarded with Sharks fans.

I mean maybe? He only got 3.5 x 2 coming off some really good MTL years (playoff scratches notwithstanding), and now he’s older and had a poor 21/22 season too. I can’t see him making more than what he’s making now but maybe 2.5 is a bit low.

Evolving Hockey has his contract projection at 7x5.72. That’s where I got that number from, they tend to be pretty accurate with their prediction. But idk what the hell he’s gonna get given he’s been unsigned for so long. Probably a bit lower? I figured he’d be off the board day 1.

He’s played 9 games…
Gritsyuk has been unable to dominate the NHL either. He had 28 points in 39 games. Great for a 20 year old, but that’s not /dominating in that league/
Holtz just put up one of the better D+2 AHL seasons we’ve seen and is still a tier above Gritsyuk, both based on the likelihood he is a full time NHL player, and in his ceiling as a prospect. Best case scenario for Gritsyuk is what? A solid middle six winger. Best case for Holtz is a 40g top line winger with one of the best shots in the league. It’s really not close.
