(SJS/VAN) - Cicek, 2024 6th (SJS) for Studnicka
Sharks gave up a younger prospect and a draft pick for a guy nobody wanted on waivers.
Vancouver wins.

Seems pretty fair, though I like this from COLs side since they essentially signed a UFA and flipped him for a pick

Hope Tatar can get his game back! He’s looked out of place in Colorado.
Makes me wonder how soon Colorado will make another move.

(CBJ/BUF) - Robinson for conditional 2025 7th (NSH)
Arguably the biggest pool of tradable assets in the league, they have their core that's locked up through their prime, their obvious weakness are on D and G, they have a 13 year and counting playoff drought, and this is the move they make.

(CBJ/BUF) - Robinson for conditional 2025 7th (NSH)
CBJ get 1.6 mil in cap space for free, Buffalo gets a winger they can use while their whole team is injured. Pretty fair trade but leans slightly in CBJs favor because Robinson is not worth 1.6mil.

Because LOL. It was always going to be similar to the Luke Schenn trade.
For example:
Its a fair deal and anyone voting otherwise is being silly</div></div>
We are no where near the deadline and Flames didn't retain. The suitors that could actually afford him right now are pretty much non existent. I fully expected him to not be dealt until at least January

But Flames fans told me he was worth a 1st or a 2nd + prospect! And that they wouldn’t trade in division!
Love the acquisition cost here for the Canucks

(VAN/CHI) - Beauvillier for 2024 5th (CGY/CHI)
Beauvillier is on pace for about 30 points this season and his on-ice goal differential is 5.4 ABOVE expected. He's a good player. Unfortunately for the Canucks, he was so far down the depth chart that he was playing 4th line minutes this season and you can't pay your 4th liner $4.15 million.
I suspect he will play a LOT more in Chicago and will score lot more points, so Chicago might have won this trade. On the other hand, you usually have to give up assets to get $4.15 million in cap space, so the Canucks might have won this trade.
Call it a fair deal.

Montreal Canadiens signed Samuel Montembeault (3 Years / $3,150,000 AAV)
Seems a little rich for Monty, no? I guess in the grand scheme of things it shouldn't matter too much with the cap expected to raise significantly. Plus, it's not like the Habs are tight on cap space at the moment
Glad he's sticking around with the Habs, he's got a good situation there. One of the better waiver claims in recent memory. Still see him as a backup at best though

Winnipeg Jets signed Nino Niederreiter (3 Years / $4,000,000 AAV)
Good for Winnipeg to lock up a top 6 forward and provide some stability for the franchise going forward. The AAV is really good for what he provides; I'm sure the last year or so will be a little high but the cap increase should offset that easily; but it's low for now so evens out.

It's starting to look like the Jets are trying to win a cup. These next 4 years are going to be really interesting, especially with the young talent climbing up the depth chart

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>In general if Klingberg goes its in a deal to get someone better coming back not a dump move
That is a waste of assets
Look at what EDM did with Barrie thats the example to use</div></div>
Barrie wasn't an asset in the trade, he was cap out, and when Barrie was traded, he was considered good. ~40 points in 60 games and a -3 on the season. Klingberg is on pace for 20 points and a -28 by about the 60 game mark, add to that the <strong>HORRID</strong> season he had last year in Anaheim and just being ho-hum for Minnesota after the TDL, his stock is at an all time low. It's clear that he needs to be on a team with a strong defensive partner and a great goalie in order to work his reckless offensive style, and Toronto has neither of those, very few teams do. Ironically, I could see him fitting in in Tampa, they have the defense and the goalie to cover for him, and they could use some more offensive oomph. Maybe Minnesota will take him back. Maybe he could work in Colorado's position-less hockey system, since he doesn't seem to know his position anyway.

Hey I even said they can take the 4th back no need to send that doesn’t make sense obviously if they do send it Toronto still does that all day long and he’s got a point why not use the cap space you have to acquire more picks
