voted Vancouver cause I really don't think these guys have value, and I think a pick is the most valuable part of this deal

Fair deal, Studnicka is a fringe NHLer while Cicek is an AHLer, the 6th takes care of that slight difference just fine

Sharks gave up a younger prospect and a draft pick for a guy nobody wanted on waivers.

Vancouver wins.

Fair deal, but the pick is the most valuable piece of this trade.

Jack Studnicka really bounced back this year. He was one of the worst NHL players last year and was a liability nearly every game. However, he was too far down the depth chart to even be an injury call-up, as the Canucks picked up several depth pieces. The Canucks D is not as deep, so there's a slightly better shot Nick Cicek will play in the NHL than Studnicka did. So the Canucks got better.

On the other hand, San Jose is a weaker team and maybe Studnicka will get a call up and do okay.

Finally, the 6th round pick will almost certainly never sign a ELC, so it has no value outside of making trades like this.

Slightly in VANs favour. Pretty fair but the 6th has a bit more value imo

wasnt crazy about the canucks picking him up in the first place, he seemed like your typical waiver wire pick up, easily replaced- hoping that the promise he had as a 2nd round pick with size manifested into something more than that...but it didnt happen. Maybe with more icetime he can figure it out in SJ, but at least the pick coming back gives the nucks another longshot.

Ive always really liked Studnicka, SJS feels like an environment where he can find a footing at the NHL level. Weird that SJS gave up assets to add him seeing as though he was on waivers fairly recently, but I like the add

After a player went on waivers, some of you think he is worth nothing after but sometimes he is worth a bit more! The team that trades for him after waiver, is able to make him play in AHL then bring him back in NHL when they want, for example; injuries or performances. I still vote Canucks cause they are better off, but a minor trade that will probably give nothing.

Win for VAN, 6th + AHLer in exchange for a guy who wasn’t even in there lineup and likely will never be a full time NHLer… or at least I’d be shocked if he does become one. At one time he had lots of potential. Seems to have not lived up to it

A month later and he wasn't able to stick around in San Jose. This is a Canucks win, but I feel bad for Studnicka. He worked really hard this off season and it looked like he would turn his career around and become a steady NHLer.
