Lekkerimaki is unavailable.
The Penguins' choices for prospects are Podkolzin, Bains, Raty, Woo, Mynio, Johansson, and McWard.

camp roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>3rd team is retaining on VGK I'm just lazy to put that here. But they would want retention to fit him next year.
No one is untouchable for JR. Give that up.
VAN has already realized it's sunken costs. They aren't going to resign him and they aren't getting the play they need out of him.
So as much as you think it's a bad deal, those are already dead assets. At best BOS would give you Lysell.
But you can't move him there yourself as you can't make the cap work. Which is why BOS the Buyer pays for the 3rd party retention aka a 1st.</div></div>
No matter who retains VGK can’t acquire Smith with retention until the summer when it’s been one year since he’s been on their roster
And JR is not the GM, and every Canucks reporter/insider has confirmed that Lekkerimaki and Willander are both unavailable in trades

To be fair Button did rank Willander as a top 10 prospect in his midseason rankings. You can argue he’s not top 10 but he’s a high end prospect that he Canucks drafted to be Hughes future d partner. They aren’t gonna move him unless they get a bonafide top 4 dman back that fits the age of the core

In no world are the Canucks giving up a top 10 prospect in the NHL for Buchnevich.

This should be what things look like by next weekend
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>theleano1</b></div><div>i can't see them moving Hoglander, and doubts about Podkolzin tonight, if you want a prospect with the 1st it's going to have to be a Raty level prospect or the Canucks will just go shop else where. With there being a lot scoring wingers on the market and Guentzel being hurt he's not going to fetch the type of package pens fans are hoping for.</div></div>
The injury is entirely inconsequential. Multiple insiders have said as much and Guentzel will miss zero games with his new team as he is practicing now. Only reason he's not playing is because he is getting traded.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pens1991</b></div><div>Lets not sit here and pretend Rutherford doesn't make heavy handed trades. They also have enough space to resign him next season (assuming that's what Jake wants) and they can move Mikheyev to someone</div></div>
Hoglander is at least as good as Mikheyev and Garland with less cap hit and more potential. Idiotic for a contender to move their valuable depth players with potential. They couldn't make a deal this summer to free up cap space so expecting another one to transpire to re-sign Guentzel is unwise. If I'm VAN, I'm making sure the cap space is available BEFORE I acquire Guentzel. That's also what will yield the best return package.

Jack is great but McDavid and Bedard are probably the 2 most valuable assets. Makar arguably ahead of Jack also (but you can argue Jack is ahead because he has more term)

We could easily beat the Kotkaniemi and Necas offer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>theleano1</b></div><div>I agree do we know the actual package that was offered? I don't think we do but I could be wrong, that seems really low for me as well, that's a part of the reason I don't think there was actually any serious thought put into it outside of it being a backup plan</div></div>
To me it sounds like it was mostly just a situation where Carolina called and Allvin basically used trade talks with them as leverage to force a decision out of Petey. Gave him the ultimatum of you're either gonna extend/commit to extending, or you wont be wearing a Canucks jersey by the end of the year. Basically just wanted to use the leverage of a potential trade to force Petey's hand by taking some control instead of letting him hold all the cards.

Like I don’t get Necas + Kotkaniemi being in the deal. That would be a massive fleece for Carolina if those are the centrepieces .
I wouldn’t trade Brady Tkachuk for Necas ++ let alone if it was Pettey
