Think about what you’d sell Quinn for. Then double it. That’s the jack price.

Jack is great but McDavid and Bedard are probably the 2 most valuable assets. Makar arguably ahead of Jack also (but you can argue Jack is ahead because he has more term)

I’ve had the McDavid argument. I think they’re pretty even. Mcdavids big factor is that he’s worth MORE than the NHL maximum salary (no other player is). I’d still take the term in Jack tho just because a McDavid extension isn’t guaranteed. If I could be assured that he’d resign I’d say yes.

Bedard is also an option, but the question is just how massive his extension will be and how quickly he develops. I’d value him around 7-8 mill right now. I have jack around 16. Mcdavid around 25. Makar and Mackinnon around 19. Matthews at 18. Jack, Pettersson, everyone else at 16 or less

He’s not, he plays a less valuable position, he’s older and he has half as much term left

I think jack and quinn have very similar value, there's no world where jack is worth double quinn

Jack has twice as long left on his contract, and so he provides twice as much value.

he's up there because of his contract but very safely behind McDavid and Bedard in terms of pure asset value
