. . . at a minimum. There's also the issue of either re-signing Jordan Spence or else replacing Matt Roy, and perhaps re-upping Viktor Arvidsson or otherwise adding a forward to perhaps make Pierre-Luc DuBois a productive member of society.

PLD Buyout
I think there would be buyers for PLD. Price may not be close to what they paid, but isn’t buyout worthy.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>Maybe my numbers here are wrong, but on Moneypuck I see Markstrom as 9th. Is this all situations?
And although GSVx is typically a great indicator of how well the goaltender has done, can you name a Vezina finalist who has had a below a .910SV%. Like Jusse Saros would be the best comparable with the highest GSAx and 4th in Vezina voting last season, but he also had a .919 SV% and 2.69GAA.
I'll eat crow if Markstrom gets a single Vezina vote, but that's a bold statement in my opinion and an interesting hill to die on.</div></div>
Lets clarify something. Hellebuyck and Demko are going to be #1 and #2 in Vezina voting. After that it will be something like Oettinger or Shesterkin simply due to to the teams success. But Markstrom has had for the most part an excellent season and will absolutely get Vezina votes. Not a finalist but probably 5th to 7th in voting.
Money Puck and Evolving Hockey use 2 different methods for xG. Evolving Hockey uses Fenwick (includes missed shots) as it's base and Money Puck only uses Shots on Goal. Until about the last month of the season Markstrom was ~4th on MP and 2nd on EH. The TDL rumours along with the complete downgrade of defensive play in front of him tanked his numbers quite a lot

Have you looked at the buyout scheme for Jack Campbell? Here it is: $1.1 million, $2.3 million, $2.6 million, and then three seasons at $1.5 million.
I think that Edmonton would prefer that to giving up another first-round draft pick.

Kings pass. If we want an older goaltender we will resign Talbot who would also be cheaper and on shorter term and keep our 1st.

Shakeup
You need several seasons of Matt Boldy and Marco Rossi a <strong>lot</strong> more than you need one season of Mitch Marner, and if Marner is going to re-sign with you in 2025, you can wait until 2025 for him to do so.
I'm not spending a second-round draft pick on Filip Gustavsson, who could be this year's Scott Darling (one and done).

Byfield is an automatic No for value reasons, Anderson is an automatic No for cap reasons, and DuBois is an automatic No because it would be suicide for Blake, Bergevin and Robitaille.

LA declines, Byfield isn't available.
And if PLD wanted to go home, he would've accepted a trade there. he wants to play in the States only.

We've been patient with Alex Turcotte this far . . . no reason to give up on him now in exchange for a 26-year-old fourth liner on a near-League-minimum contract and two dart throws.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>I think we were gifted Byfield somewhat slumping to the end of the season in regards to his contract, but Gavrikov's game has made me incredibly worried about moving forward without Roy. If Roy walks we will need to get not only a shutdown defenseman, but better defensive forwards to offset his loss.
If Arvidsson returns under such a contract, I am totally ok with most of the Kings forward group, and Arvy does seem happy here, but he is also 31. Trying to be an unbiased fan, he should be chasing his 3-4 year most guaranteed money contract with his injury history. But if he gifts us that type of contract, I would be over the moon.</div></div>
I have suggested this very thought process.
But the thing that really kills it, is LA cap is so tight. They probably spend the money on Roy if they can get him in.
If Roy is out the door than bringing in smith isn't an issue.
It's probably easier for both teams to give the 4th to a team like AZ to retain 50% that way both teams get max benefit from the deal.
2.5 for 1 year, shouldn't cost more than a 4th.

Don't disagree, but trying to make it all work. Someone has to take a hometown discount and i think it could work out better for him long term when the cap goes up even more

:laugh Rob Blake isn't eating $16,500,000 on PLD for that lame offer.
And sorry PLD didn't want to play in Montreal that's why he was traded to LA.
His future Detroit born wife won't live in Montreal and that was one of the reasons he wasn't willing to accept a trade to go home. Neither PLD or Zegras are Montreal bound just get over it.

Kings better keep their 2nd rounder, save a lot of cap space and sign Nedeljkovic for half of what Jarry is getting for 4 more years.
I wonder what the Predators Fans think about the trade for Saros. Heard they want multiple first rounders + a top six winger.

Jarry is simply too expensive for the Kings. We're looking to spend that amount of cap on BOTH goalies.

No chance in this world, that LA is going to retain a total of $17,500,000 over 7 years for dumping PLD. They better give him the chance for a full season to play with to solid wingers (this season he mainly played with Anderson-Dolan and Laferriere). Anderson-Dolan, sorry to say, was not really NHL level and Laferriere did not have a bad season, but his first NHL year. So it's a tough line to start to play with in your first year with a new team.
Of course PLD performed well under expactations, but this needs to be considered. If PLD can play a full season with a guy like Arvidsson and another solid winger, I am sure his numbers will look different next year, even when he centers the 3rd line.
Kings shoud have also no interest in the package, especially not in Davorak and Primeau. I find it interesting that you don't believe in Primeau. How then could he improve a contending team?
Also: You would offer Cam Talbot §3,500,000 for two years? I mean he's great this season (and gladly healthy) but don't forget that he's turning 38 before the next season starts.
