I don’t disagree. Not sure giving up our 24 1st is a good idea though.

Not sure you’d have to pay Laf that much. Rangers have like no cap space. Obviously they can just make a deal and match, but would be hard on them either way.

Debrincat extended barely got a 1st.
I’d be very happy with this return for Helly + Melo. Krebs and Ostlund are worth more than a 1st.
I’d prefer to move Helly to NJ for a package built around Holtz + Vanecek + 24 1st though.

I'm just not a Helle believer, if he couldn't get on a hot streak in his prime with this recent core which was considered fairly good what makes us think he'll get on a good run when he's older and out of his prime with this next core which likely won't be as good or will at least take some time to develop?
I just don't see it happening, imo its best to move on and let him be some other teams headache.</div></div>
I agree with you. Was simply stating that for an org with 0 history of drafting, developing, signing and retiring stars, it might be with a lot to them.

There’s some value to be placed on the ability to draft, develop, sign and retire a franchise goalie who’s one of the best of his generation. Adds some pedigree to the jets franchise.
That being said, the smart move would be to move him asap for as much as possible. Try and swing some sort of futures deal to a contender.
Jets can then use those futures to trade for a goalie to replace helly or keep them and use them.

Would have to imagine jets say yes to this. Really don’t see them getting a better piece in a Helly deal unless they pull off something ridiculous like packaging scheif and helly together double retained.

Jets probably want different complimentary pieces along with sway. Goalies don’t hold the same value a 40+ goal scorer does.

If they weren’t willing to move a 1st + Schmidt for Sanheim. They definitely aren’t moving that much for parayko.

Seattle blocks your number, Detroit likely says no to both deals. I think their 24 1st will be 15-25OA though so I’m not sure how Steve values that. Doubt he has any interest in moving Cossa.

I think we won't be seeing much of Lucius or Lambert next season so wouldn't count on them slotting into a top 6 center role on the Jets for the 23-24 season.
If they're not rebuilding then what do you do to replace both of your top two centers.</div></div>
Chevy spoke today about helle and scheif being big pieces going forward. Could always just be posturing, but seems like they’ll play the patient game with those two.
He also spoke to Perfetti being drafted as a centre, which is very interesting. Perhaps he starts as the 2C?

Ideally we move Pionk or Schmidt back in this deal. I could see PHI having interest in Pionk. Can be their PP1 QB after deangelo inevitably is moved to CAR. They can then flip pionk at the TDL or next offseason for a nice package.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Birtle34</b></div><div>Don’t mind the idea of it, but done as a bargain, rather than full price, that’s a ton of term to eat if it goes bad. Lots of change over up front, so possibly some moves to rebuild the blueline, got to make room or get rid of heinola, also time to decide on Dillon and demelo on contract years, rfa samberg could probably return something decent, so not opposed to trading or a longterm contract. Pionk I would like to see given a partner that works and possibly shined up for a nice deal at the deadline or extended. Morrissey is morrissey probably just left alone, but with his size probably nice to add a little size around him. Stanley can be added into a deal, he needs a change of scenery.</div></div>
Jets have to take risks like these. You’re buying low on a big dman who can eat minutes with term. Sanheim has been great his whole career, until Philly started to suck, and everyone started having worse numbers. This is exactly the type of deal they should be making.
If we could do Schmidt/Pionk, 18th and a 2nd for 22nd and Sanheim I’m all over that deal.

I can’t see scheifele staying after the issues with Bowness. Jets are hooped at C unless lambert and Lucius develop. Really would be nice if they somehow could get #5 from MTL and get a stud C….
