(OTT/NYR) - Ebert for Namestnikov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>L_FACTOR</b></div><div>Okay, let me get this straight. Ottawa, a team that should be working to finish last, picked up a contract with ZERO VALUE beyond this year (UFA) by trading a young asset and a pick. That makes sense. PLEASE, SOMEONE EXPLAIN HOW THIS WASN'T IDIOTIC?</div></div>
First of all Nick Ebert is not a young asset. He's a 25 year old former 7th round pick they signed out of Sweden to play in the AHL. He not anything beyond a 3rd/4th injury call up. Probably only included to keep Ottawa at 49/50 contracts. A 4th round pick is negligible in terms of expected value, especially compared to Namestnikov.
If Vladdy can be a solid middle six player for a couple of months in Ottawa, there's a solid chance they could get a 3rd for him at the deadline. Worst case scenario, he's a slightly better Mikkel Boedker who is gone at the end of the season, and you probably won't miss what you gave up.
With the sens bringing in 3.25mil in this deal, I wouldn't be surprised to see money out in the next couple of days/weeks. Maybe Boedker/Pageau/Tierney? Unlikely the sens want to add salary straight up.

paying the bonus doesn't have any impact on the cap....it's the AAV that matters for cap...ownership simply saves the coin of paying the bonus

What did Lou like this year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>linehan10</b></div><div>The Leafs third line center who didn’t even top 50 points and has now been suspended in back to back postseasons for... the Isles best defenseman who has already gotten extremely close if he hasn’t already realized his top pair potential? Really?</div></div>
People on here, "Here is a small sample size I am going to focus on to prove a point and cherry pick a couple of things to drive down someone's value while ignoring other things that happened recently that will absolutely destroy my argument.".
Kadri shot 5% lower on his shooting percentage than his career average, he was extremely unlucky this season. And was one of 8 centres who has scored back to back 30 goal seasons. To call him a 3c who scores less than 50 points is completely ignoring his body of work and trying to artificially lower the value. An actual GM like Lou wouldn't do that, why? Because it's silly and no one would take them seriously.

Yikes....
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yes</b></div><div>-and BU jumped the gun and added him to the roster yet it's been reported by Mike Morreale (NHL.com) and Evan Sporer (Sporting News) that he hasn't made a decision. I wouldn't be surprised if he went back to Boston University or went to his OHL draft rights team of London but there is a fair chance he could join the Senators.</div></div>
I wouldnt say they really jump the gun. Prior to him even being drafted they already hinted at him returning to BU back in May/June. Probably gave them the early impression that he would come back, but probably seeing the NHL chance being tempting especially after Dev Camp also I think Quinn being hired as the Rangers HC impacts this.
Thanks have changed since June for him, also it depends...he might want to play in the NHL next year but is Ottawa wanting him to play yet? Who knows

Yes? No?
No, i think Ceci has a bit more value to him than a 23 year old thats playing in the minors, he shows upside but not enough for ceci. maybe add a 2nd or just a first straight up (28th or 29th overall) and they have so much cap space, no need for the buyouts, until they have to worry about contracts

Hows the value? EDM/MTL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vinnylou</b></div><div>You're just terribly misinformed. He's a winger now. He has no reason to play centre. Draisaitl and mcdavid can play that. Rnh can actually finish a play. Not like maroon or hall on McDavid's wing lol</div></div>
Ok but we are comparing trade values here. And in my opinion Galchenyuk and 3rd overall is an over payment for RNH and 10th overall. How am I miss informed? When he was a center the past two seasons he was under 40 points, on Mcdavids wing he ended up with 48. Galchenyuk got more points playing on Jacob De la roses wing....
I don’t know what your trying to argue me on here

Habs have the 3rd pick not the 4th. And no I wouldn't do the trade the difference between RNH and Galchenyuk is not 7 spots and a third. Id rather draft Zadina and trade Patches

godly top line
I wouldn't call that godly. You have a 3rd line LW, a 2nd line center, and a top liner. Godly 1st line usually involved all 3 being top liners.

I dont disagree with you but the mens league excuse is useless. The ECHL is a mens league. My beer league is a mens league. Almost anything outside OHL WHL and QMJHL is going to be a mens league

Who says no?
Fabbri + 1st + 2nd for Hoffman
Thomas + Kyrou + 2nd for pick no. 4.
I'd say no as the Blues. That's two top junior players for one, and we wouldn't be getting a top prospect at a position of need (center). Plus, OTT is deep with center prospects and could add a huge talent at 4th oa, I'm not sure they say yes to this either.

Hoffman Trade
to make this realistic, you should make a 2018/19 roster and see how the cap is especially with the Trouba and Hellebuyck signings.

overpayment? that seems like an underpayment for hoffman to me...
late 1st round pick
career AHLer
2 prospects that are nothing special - future depth roles in the NHL if theyre lucky
washed up NHL player
5th round pick
you expect that package to get you a top 6 (arguably 1st line) forward on a great contract (+ a depth forward)? and you want ottawa to retain $2 million?
no way

mostly I just wanted to say thanks for starting a new thread instead of just editing the old one and making the comments there confusing to anyone else who happens along. annoys the crap out of me when people do that.

Even if we sign Carlson at 8.5M, Stastny at 8M and Perron at 6.5M... we would still be under the cap
