Description

Ericsson and Daley are gone, Abdelkader and Nielsen are buried in the minors. Fabbri gets his bridge deal. Brought Gagner back. Brought in Gustafsson, Sheary, and Ennis in free agency. Calgary won't be able to keep all their defensemen. The D core would be weak still but I think Seider can make the jump to NHL play. Perhaps Sheary and Ennis would be happy to join a team where they could get top six minutes most of the time. The bottom six is still not that good. Also signed Khudobin, who is coming off a good season. Bernier was really good in net despite all the losing so I think goaltending would be acceptable. Couldn't find any trades that really made sense to me, the Red Wings don't have a ton of movable assets currently. There's plenty of flexibility with the lines you could put out there and you could bring up some guys from Grand Rapids if they are having a good season. Don't think Krug or Sergachev will end up on the Wings next season unfortunately. Tell me what you guys think!

Absolutely not. Put in Holtby or Lehner in nets. Sign Krug. Trade for Palat/Johnson/Gourde and get someone for 1 year like Statsny and then I’d say possibly

Competitive was the wrong word. Rather would this team be improved? I think so. The Wings biggest problems were lack of scoring and poor defense. I think Sheary and Ennis would definitely help out in that regard. Gustafsson is good defensively. Sure, those guys might not be long-term solutions but the only guys the Wings will really have to shell out a bunch of cash for in the future are Zadina, Hronek, and Seider. Everyone else will either be signed or is expendable.

Ennis nah sheary I could be talked into if the contract is ok. Hes not gonna make a huge difference but hes a middle 6 winger. Gustafson I'm on board with. I think for what he costs hes gonna be worth it. They need some offense from the blue line and he immediately fixes that.
