Description

Saw this trade today and maintained that it doesn't fit Toronto's cap situation. I've upped the retention from 30% to 40% and it still doesn't work.

I think it would be a mistake to give up on Andreas Johnsson when his trade value is as low as it can get.

As this construction shows, sliding in under the cap would require trading Alex Kerfoot, too -- or else Freddie Andersen (!). Even replacing Sandin with Marincin and Lehtonen with Liljegren doesn't get the Maple Leafs there.

In short, I don't think Toronto fans even have to get to a discussion of whether it makes sense to take on Burns until after his 40th birthday.
