Description
Think Ottawa would trade Duclair for:

- James Neal ($2,000,000 retained by Oilers): At $3,750,000, Neal's contract is palatable for the next three years; gives the Oilers some salary relief but retain a similar salary as if they bought Neal out... but only for 3 years vs. 6 years if they bought him out.
- Alex Chiasson: Veteran player with strong net front presence and a good shot. Contract is only one year long so palatable contract and serviceable player.
- Kris Russell: He's only due $1,500,000 in salary and a serviceable veteran defensemen.
- Matthew Benning: Younger top-6 defensmen who will fit Ottawa's timeline to being competitive.

I know this is more quantity than quality... but I don't think Duclair fits Ottawa's timeline to being competitive so they may be willing to move him for assets that better align with their timeline (i.e. 2+ years). Maybe the Oilers throw in a pick or Samorukov to sweeten the deal and add some quality?

Why would we trade a young, speedy, 20-goal middle six winger for two cap dumps, a PP specialist depth winger, and a 3RD?
