Yay more 20/20 hindsight draft arguments incoming

Every team passed on Aho in the first round, Pavelski in the 6th/7th... Cirelli went 72nd overall. so your point is every team sucks at drafting I guess..

It's just a million times worse when you have 3 picks in a row an would have been a million times better off to select literally the 3 next players taken. Looks so much worse. SO, SO much.

Go to a mock draft of 2015 and look at how half the league passed on most of the player and at how a ton of players who went in the late first/ 2nd/ 3rd rounds all jump up a ton of spots.

Drafting is imperfect there’s a reason why “lottery draft” could basically apply to the entire draft as a rename

Those guys were projected to go around those areas though, In this specific draft Boston went off the board with all 3 picks. Barzal. Chabot and Connor were all highly touted and good prospects. Only Debrusk was even close to being ranked with them when Boston went off the board.

Barzal was also rated to be a great top 10 pick and he wasn’t. So my point still stands. Every team could see themselves drafting Barzal in the future. I wish we drafted Barzal yet we got Meier who’s great. It is what it is. Many teams passed on Barzal. The leafs passed on Barzal and twice on Aho (selected dermott over Aho within 1 selection). The sharks did the same. A majority of the league did the same.

Drafting just so everyone here knows doesn’t involve magic balls from the future. Just incase anyone thought terracards and magic balls work for scouts and gms. Yes off the board blows up in your face sometimes but just as many times it doesn’t - Dubois was considered off the board yet it was smart (obviously not off the board by a mile but it still wasn’t expected).

Live in the present not the past lol.
