Anaheim Ducks
Jacob Larsson (Brendan Guhle, Sonny Milano)
Former 1st round LHD with loads of potential will man the blue-line in coming years, for now he’ll make a good.
Arizona Coyotes
Tyler Pitlick (Ilya Lyubushkin, Jason Demers)
Solid depth forward, has a couple hot streaks each year which is perfect for Seattle’s struggling roster.
Boston Bruins
Dan Vladar (Jakub Zboril, Anders Bjork)
Great 3rd string with potential, looked amazing in short NHL stints.
Buffalo Sabres
Collin Miller (Brandon Montour, Cody Eakin)
Potential to be a 2nd line defenseman but could jump up to 1st or down to 3rd depending on play.
Calgary Flames
Dillon Dube (Chris Tanev, Sam Bennett)
Kraken grab a gritty 3rd line scorer who will command the depth attack and could develop into a mediocre 2nd liner.
Carolina Hurricanes
Brady Skjei (Jake Bean, Jake Gardiner)
Seattle gains a top pairing defenseman with some potential and room to grow.
Chicago Blackhawks
Calvin De Haan (Madison Bowey, Collin Delia)
Decent 2nd line defenseman, costly contract but only for two years.
Colorado Avalanche
Devon Toews (Ryan Graves, Joonas Donskoi)
Seattle loads up the left side of defense with a great 2nd pairing D at age 26.
Columbus Blue Jackets
Mikhail Grigorenko (Eric Robinson, Dean Kukan)
Kraken grab Grigorenko and attempt to offer him a 3rd line role which could pay off nicely if he develops fully.
Dallas Stars
Anton Khudobin (Jamie Oleksiak, Jason Dickinson)
Khudobin fits in perfectly as Seattle’s elite backup for the next couple of years.
Detroit Red Wings
Taro Hirose (Adam Erne, Sam Gagner)
Young signing fresh out of the NCAA has blossomed into a nice project and a decent 4th liner.
Edmonton Oilers
Kyle Turris (Zach Kassian, Dominik Kahun)
Decent 4th line center who will stick around as a mentor.
Edmonton trades a 2021 1st (Top 10 Protected) in exchange for Expansion Draft Considerations (Jesse Puljujarvi).
Florida Panthers
Henrik Borgstrom (Brett Connolly, Noel Accari)
Elite potentially which can’t be rushed in development, could turn out to be a great number 1 center.
Los Angeles Kings
Kale Clague (Blake Lizotte, Martin Frk)
Great potential defenseman with loads of skills and smarts.
Minnesota Wild
Jordan Greenway (Marcus Johansson, Nick Bjugstad)
Beast of a power forward is a decent 2nd liner and could become a good 1st liner.
Montreal Canadiens
Artturi Lehkonen (Joel Edmundson, Brett Kulak)
Great penalty killer for Montreal will translate into a nice 3rd liner for Seattle
Nashville Predators
Mikael Granlund (Luke Kunin, Calle Jarnkrok)
Seattle brings in Granlund to play alongside former linemate Jordan Greenway.
New Jersey Devils
PK Subban (Aaron Dell, Janne Kuokkanen)
Former Norris Trophy defenseman has fallen off but should come back to his elite status in a perfect environment.
New York Islanders
Kieffer Bellows (Scott Mayfield, Sebastian Aho)
2016 1st round pick who has yet to break out into an NHL player.
New York Rangers
Brett Howden (Julien Gauthier, Anthony DeAngelo)
Young, smart 3rd line center with potential.
Ottawa Senators
Ryan Dzingel (Derek Stepan, Filip Gustafsson)
Great 2nd/3rd line scoring forward.
Philadelphia Flyers
James van Riemsdyk (Shayne Gostibehere, Nicholas Aube-Kubel)
Top winger with a heavy cap hit was a leader for points among left wingers in 2020-21, elite 1st liner for Seattle.
Pittsburgh Penguins
Jared McCann (Cody Ceci, Teddy Blueger)
Failed 1st round project will be a decent middle six forward.
San Jose Sharks
Dylan Gambrell (Radim Simek, Alex True)
Mediocre 3rd line center for San Jose, former college star.
St. Louis Blues
Mike Hoffman (Sammy Blais, Vince Dunn)
Expiring UFA, may take some convincing to sign but will be an absolute beast if he does.
Tampa Bay Lightning
Tyler Johnson (Matthieu Joseph, Patrick Maroon)
Tampa Bay trades a 2021 1st and Alex Barre-Boulet in exchange for Expansion Draft Considerations (Cal Foote and Erik Cernak).
Toronto Maple Leafs
Justin Holl (Travis Dermott, Jimmy Vesey)
Highly underrated 3rd pairing defenseman with lots of talent fits into Seattle’s scheme.
Toronto trades a 2022 2nd in exchange for Expansion Draft Considerations (Jack Campbell)
Vancouver Canucks
Braden Holtby (Michael Ferland, Tanner Pearson)
Kraken get their starter in a former Vezina winner, for the next couple of years.
Washington Capitals
Carl Haglien (Vitek Vanecek, Brendan Dillon)
Decent 3rd liner who’s been a pivotal part of two of the Penguins Stanley Cup teams.
Winnipeg Jets
Adam Lowry (Samu Niku, Nathan Bealieu)
Could be lost to free agency but will be a versatile 3rd line center if signed.
Note: I understand this team is over the cap, De Haan probably gets traded and Lowry probably doesn't sign.
I have said this a million times Dube is protected over Lucic if he waives. If he doesn't waive he is being selfish and Calgary should give Seattle something not to take him
Toews will not be exposed. Sakic didnt trade for a guy giving up 2 2nd round picks and extend him for 4 years to expose him. Johnson waives or buys out, its pretty highly assumed that EJ will waive and Avs already know this.
