Description
This roster is counting on the attraction playing with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl holds for UFA's.

1. Hall takes a 1 year deep discount to take a run at a cup, something he said he would consider during an interview in NJ. His Buffalo debacle might force him to put his money where his mouth is. Plus he had success with Draisaitl when LD was a rookie and Hall may also want to put himself in a good position to play on the Canadian Olympic team. This wouldn't hurt his chances and look what it is doing for Tyson Barrie, who took a pay cut to play in E-Town.
2. Dougie Hamilton might get an $8 million dollar offer elsewhere...but in this Covid economy who is in a position to do so that also offers Stanley Cup contention over the next 5 years?
3. Danault is one of the best tough match-ups centers in the League. This is a contract the Habs seem reluctant to pay, why wouldn't he want to be playing important minutes as a 3C, while being paid what he is looking for?
4. Merzlikins was mentioned by Elliott Friedman as a trade candidate this summer, not sure why. The trade for Koskinen + heart and soul and fan favourite Josh Archibald, plus the very good, very fast Center prospect Ryan Mcleod is a good deal for CBJ in that McLeod appeared NHL ready in his draft year, but has been kept away from the NHL to help him to become a more savvy offensive player. He has greater potential than his brother Michael in NJ and most Devils fans really like their Mikey. Koskinen would provide mentorship to Korpisalo, who would respect him highly given MK's status as hero to many young goalies in Finland.
5. The deal for Patrick seems like an overpay from Oiler fans viewpoint as Bear is an excellent young Dman who still has room for growth. Yamamoto is also a huge fan favourite. However, if Patrick has overcome his health issues and this is still not certain, he could provide exceptional value for a decade or more.
6. Hyman is a bigger Yamamoto and might be too costly for TML to resign.
7. Coleman is similar to Hyman, but would be an exceptional depth player on this team, who could, like all the additions on this roster, move up and down the lineup without missing a beat.
8. Getzlaf likely would not sign, but like Thornton and Spezza signing for league minimum with their hometown team to take a shot at a Cup, this is a similar model with Getzlaf being from nearby Saskatchewan.

Columbus declines, they don’t want Koskinen or Archibald. The only thing you’re offering them that they might want is McLeod for I’d say one of their best signed prospects and their number one goalie. Columbus’s prospect pool is empty, they shouldn’t be moving any prospects.
