I don’t understand the VGK trade

I believe it falls under the assumption that Vegas is actively seeking to dump Fleury's cap again this offseason, but after Fleury wins the Vezina its gonna be unlikely that he is seen as a "cap dump"

Edmonton declines. Savoie is worth too much right now - he outscored Caufield's rookie season in NCAA. He's got a ways to go, but he's a fantastic goal scorer.

Thats literally not even true, Caufield had 36 points in 36 games as a freshman for wisconsin in 2019-20. Savoie had 20 points in 24 games. He exceeded expectations so far but still was a 4th round pick only 8 months ago. His scoring was on par with what landon slaggert did at notre dame this year, a Blackhawks prospect drafted in the third round. Slaggert actually outscored Savoie and is a world junior gold medalist, but im not going out and saying slaggert is too valuable to get a bonafide middle 6 center on a team that needs one

Ive actually been weighing up the idea of Butcher tbh from NJD so I like that deal if it could happen.

MAF would be a massive addition for us though I don't see VGK passing him up on the discount unless its desperate but if he slays the playoffs as he has done before theres no chance he's dumped for cap space.

Prefer to get a 1st in a trade for Strome whether it be a package or cap dump in return.
