Description

The Blackhawks are clearly committed to young talent, and this lineup is a reflection of that. A few points below:

1. The Martinez signing is specifically one year with an NMC, with the understanding that he has the right to be traded to a contender of his choosing at the deadline if the Hawks aren't in it.
2. Butcher is the quintessential Colliton/Bowman project - positive analytics, history with current Hawks prospects, and a bad fit on a team. Zadorov is traded because the Hawks can't come to agreement on a contract.
3. Reichel and Nylander are really competing for that 2/3RW slot. Connolly is the vet presence.
4. Not sure if the Hawks trust Subban as a backup, but signing someone seems unlikely unless there's a veteran the Hawks like in the 1.5-2.5M range.
5. Mitchell and Beaudin are first up, and take big 1/2D minutes in Rockford for development. Broberg probably starts in the AHL. Hawks determine whether Beaudin or Martinez is worth pursuing for an extension after the halfway mark.

That is more than fair deal for 2 years of Neal, in fact I think that it could probably get done without Kaly being included.

We won't have enough cap for the bonus's that come with the LTIR.

This one does make me think. Ceiling is really high for Broberg but in return they are getting a cap dump (worth a 1st+) and a talented forward in Strome. Really hard to give up Broberg but that return is something to at least entertain.
