Description
I am aware the amount of movements here are a lot for a typical offseason, but I wanted to show a massive overhaul. A lot of these moves are managing salary, giving up JVR to expansion (2 years), then acquiring a guy like Kessel with similar statistical output, but he only has 1 year left. OR trading Jake for Tarasenko, who is less money and years left, but has injury concerns and has demanded a trade.

A lot of the deals require giving up future assets for 1 year deals, but we need 1 year flexibility with a ton of FA coming up next year. This allows many of the other 1 year deals acquired to play for their spot so to speak.

Kadri, Kessel, etc. may not have a place beyond this year.

The move to bring in Kessel and Tarasenko offsets losing Konecny. Hopefully Tarasenko rebounds. If not, we have Kessel to at least give us 20 goals on the top line.

Not by design, but Frost was never traded. But that presents a great opportunity for him to continue to develop into our 3rd line center, making Kadri expendable after the year. OR He gives the Flyers a trade chip for a mid-season addition. Also, I figure my valuations are off here and there so it allows people to comment and maybe I edit a trade or 2 knowing Frost is there to be traded.

the Avalanche I expect a little grief with, but 2 things, if done before expansion, The Avalanche will at least receive something in return for Graves. Also they seem to be fed up with Kadri's antics and may want to move on, which would also clear up even more cap for Landeskog and Grubauer and other small pieces necessary to change things up just enough. They may not get full value, but its better than losing someone of value for absolutely nothing. I also like the idea of Lindblom on that team for both he and the Avalanche. Although it will hurt Flyers fans to see him go.

I think the Avs pass. This leaves them without a 2C and also Hagg and Zamula would be stuck behind Girard, Toews, and Byram on the depth chart who will all be with COL long term. COL can't really move Kadri without another center coming back

Detroit will accept that, unless something better turns up.

Don't think the Blues are interested in Voracek. Tarasenko +Dunn for Konecny and a 3rd?

The whole get something for him rather than nothing makes 0 sense. We still have to give another player if we trade graves away for the bare minimum, so we'd essentially be losing two players for the minimum of one. Why would we do that? Unless colorado can trade graves in a hockey trade or an overpayment they will just lose him and move on. They would decline this trade since they also still need kadri.

Losing Kadri opens up more cap as well, they have some key guys in free agency, plus if they are tired of him, the extra cap could allow them to sign another player in that role without Kadri on the roster. I think it comes down to how much I read into reports the Avalanche are fed up with him after the playoff fiasco. That was my reasoning there. I can acknowledge its possibly flawed though.
