If the sharks have to trade arguably their best player last year, I really dont see them retaining especially if it is not an insane return

I don't see them retaining for 4 years, especially not for such a low return.

The guy will also tank any value he has by taking the dumbest penalties in the world and it will cost you a playoff round and his play could start declining at any moment.

If it gets to this point you are better off just overpaying Gabe then doing this

Agree with the first part (we wont retain) but Kane took nowhere near the amount of penalties last year.

The Kane trade is so weird for a couple reasons. One is that it's not enough for Kane especially if the Sharks are retaining. Adding that Compher does nothing for them and is overpaid.

However, rumor mill said that he may have wanted out and may have pissed off some teammates. Again, all rumors. So it's either not enough if the rumors aren't true and arguably an overpay if they are true.

I still think Landeskog stays btw.

I think a year ago Kane was an interesting name, but at this point we are far too close to him going from valuable asset to cap dump any day now, not to mention the complete nightmare off the ice stuff that he has going on.

I just don't think he is worth it at this point unless the other team is sending back a similarly questionable contract or something like that. Esp considering SJ still probably thinks they are 'competitors'
