Both of them are pending UFAs of fairly slmilar cost and value, unlikely to re-sign with their current teams. Imo could be a win-win for both teams.

How does TO fill the hole left from moving Rielly? Sandin was taken out of the playoffs so he isn't the answer at least not yet. Plus Rielly is significantly better than Hertl

That's the interesting question, but based on the amount of Rielly dump posts on this site the general consensus seems that Sandin is sooner rather than later able to take that slot. Muzzin is already the most important D in that team due to his versatility in both ends of the ice.

I disagree on Rielly being that much better than Hertl. Both probably contribute the same for their respective teams, and can be seen as the mvp of their respective positions in their teams.

Isn't a win for SJ, why would they trade away their top center for another D?

To gather equivalent value and a very useful player. At least that's how I view this.

It's also an option to move him for futures, but given the situation they might not be getting full value out of the guy.

Last thing they should do is let him walk.

I think the value is fair for the Devils trade but the Devils don't need Simek for 3 years with Graves, Smith, Bahl, Siegenthaler, and soon Hughes and Mukhamudullin all on the left side

Maybe Johnsson to SJ for a pick works
