Ottawa has no reason to be interested in Karlsson. He's overpaid even at 9 mil, and he doesn't fit the timeline at all. Why would Ottawa trade their top RHD prospect for him?

Also I've seen it suggested a few times, but I don't think Batherson for Laine makes any sense. Laine is an all world shooter, but it's the only thing he does. And that's valuable don't get me wrong, but Batherson can score goals too (not to the same degree) and he's a much more effective player even when the goals aren't coming. Plus with Batherson being an RFA the Sens are in a good position to lock him up at a very reasonable number.

Not liking any of this. I love Karl but he has declined and even at 9M that contract is an overpay now and will get worse with age, oh and that $10M signing bonus next year. That and he'll never leave Cali to come back to play for uncle Euge, pretty sure the Uber's are comped in SJ.

Laine is a strange cat, he can put the puck in the net with the best of them but his GAF level doesn't seem to be there most nights. The chemistry that Batherson had last year with Chucky and Norris is something I wouldn't want to mess with. Also, Batherson will likely come much cheaper than Laine for the next little while anyways.

Drouin has 2 x 5.5M, I just think there are better options for what he brings to the table. A 3rd and 4th is probably what he's worth but it's a bit of a gamble. He took some time for his mental health last year so who knows how he's going to return.
