Description
After 40 games, the Ducks are out of a playoff spot and don't realistically have a chance to get into one. The Ritchie experiment is a failure, but Toronto, although behind Florida, Tampa and Boston, should still qualify for the post-season if they finish with a closing rush. Rakell gives the Maple Leafs a legitimate #2LW and Manson is better at #3RD than Dermott. In my opinion, adding these two players is worth losing Kerfoot, and Toronto gets to keep both their 2022 first and their 2023 first.

In my opinion, Kyle Dubas shouldn't wait for the trade deadline to right the ship if the Maple Leafs aren't well over .500.

I don't know what the asking price for players will be at the deadline, but I do know that Manson will be at least a 1st

Yeah, healthy Manson ask would be Savard-type return. Will they get it? Who knows...but GM's overvalue the qualities that he brings to the table (Once again, see: David Savard). Rakell would be similar to, if not more than Foligno. He's finally scoring again (4 goals in 6 games), playing bigger minutes, and it's only a matter of time before Eakins finally puts Comtois-Zegras-Rakell together, which should further boost the offence.

i could see and NHL ready prospect / young player + 2nd. Liljegren seems like he would replace an expiring contract at that position

I'm trying to be as realistic and conservative as possible. Obviously, as a Ducks guy, I'd like to get more, but since we've all thought that Murray's asking price for both of these UFAs is a first plus, and no deal has happened, I'm not optimistic that that's what we're going to get. Of course, I agree with your and @Salzy's previous expressions that it's better to keep Josh Manson around to give Jamie Drysdale some protection while he develops (at least for this year), but at some point, we're going to have to pull that particular trigger if we can't (or don't want to) re-sign him.

Well, that's been the rumored asking price all along, and we haven't seen any deals, so . . .

Of course, demand always increases as the season end approaches.

In my mind, Liljegren is close to the value of a first, especially due to his term.

Welcome to CapFriendly, by the way.
