Description
I'm not sure about Lindholm's value if he's available come TDL, but I believe his value as a rental isn't going to be much more than Pavelski's. Other option in a deal like this could be Leddy, but I have gone with Lindholm here since Red wings might fight for a playoff spot with the Bruins so it doesn't really make sense for them to send Leddy to Bruins. Leddy also wouldn't be much of an upgrade defensively but he would bring some much needed offense on the Bruins blue line and acquiring him would be much cheaper.

However the values on the trade are as follows:

Ducks:

Lindholm = 1st and a 2nd
Retention on Pavelski = 3rd

Stars:

Pavelski = 1st and a 2nd
Retention on Lindholm = 4th

Ducks are getting the higher pick for retention as Pavelski's retention cost's a little more. I also consider Lindholm to be the better of the two so that's also why it makes sense for Ducks to get the higher pick. Ducks are also getting the 2023 or 2024 1st rounder which is probably going to be a higher pick than this years pick.

Then why would Bruins trade 6 draft picks for 2 rentals? Personally I see this being one of the last runs that the Bruins can have with this core, at least for a year or two. With all the expiring contracts of Foligno, Smith, Haula, Nosek and Clifton I could really see them being sellers on next years TDL, which is an opportunity to make some of these picks back for the 2023 NHL Draft. So basically you're sacrificing this years drafting and some of the next draft for a serious cup run. But then again if it's too much of an sacrifice then you can go after Leddy instead of Lindholm. Either way I'd say go for it.

Btw it shows that Bruins would be 2,7mil over the cap, because I'm not able add the other retentions. So with Pavelski's cap hit of 1,75mil and Lindolm's cap hit of 1,301,389mil the Bruins would actually be 262,937k under the cap.

Any thought's on the trade or the lineup and how far could you see this team going.

Still won’t win the cup, Bergy retires, team struggles for years afterwards.

This is not a team that can afford to trade 1sts for rentals. They need to get good young players with term if they are moving 1sts. Otherwise you are just pissing away assets.

It would have to have a higher end prospect to pry Hampus away I’m sure

Also not sure if he would even be available due to how the Ducks are playing — looking more and more likely he resigns with Anaheim

Dallas accepts if we are out of the PO, which is a real probability for most except Jim Nill.

But Boston shouldn’t trade away those first round picks. IMO, Bruins are not a enough serious contender to give away futures like that.

This would be terrible lol this team is barely going to squeak into the playoffs and you want to give up 6 draft picks (including next year's first which could be lottery) for two rentals?
