Description

Girard needs a defensive anchor to help his defensive breakdowns. A player like Mayfield would help significantly and is probably the most important asset the Avs can add.

Copp is a great two way player who kills penalties and could fit anywhere in the lineup. Might have to give up a bit more to get him but would be great to see a player like him on the roster.

Fleury would be awesome to go after, but I bet Joe waits to see how his tandem does now that both are healthy. Francouz is a very solid goaltender and could even take the starting spot. The defensive play is more troublesome than goaltending IMO.

I think the Jets likely hold out for a higher pick or better project as the main part of the package.

Islanders would want a better return. Mayfield is not a rental and is being paid 1.45 Mill next season as well. Not sure they would even trade him considering that would create another whole in a gutted D core.

Jets would for sure be willing to retain 50% on Copp but we're looking for a 1st round pick back. This offer is a pretty easy pass.

A 4th liner that you claimed on waivers that we could have claimed first if we wanted them and a former late first round pick that looks like a bust plus the ever coveted 5th round pick.

Counter proposal. Justin Barron for Copp 50% retained or 2023 1st for Copp 50% retained.

Or maybe something involving Drew Hellson. He's from Minnesota, we love those guys.
