Description
If Dubas can get rid of Muzzin without giving up too much, we should take that deal in a heartbeat. I love Muzzin, but with the state of this team and what they can afford, he should be the next one out - especially if they don't make it out of the first round again.

This team has a much better defense core. It is bigger, tougher, and should be able to move some bodies from the front of the net. Giving Campbell a new contract for multiple years is risky, but I think he will turn it around and be a .925 SV% goalie for the rest of the season. Koorpisalo can play 30-35 games and take the load off of Campbell so what is happening now does not happen in next year. At the deadline, we will need a top 6 forward and a few depth players in case of injuries.

The one major thing that I have heard Canucks fans complain about is that Myers sucks and they wish his signing could be undone. With this trade, they free up $4M over the next 2 years plus some future assets. Leafs need a big shutdown guy, so it works out.

I don't think Detroit wants Mrázek back.

Honestly, it was really hard to find a suitor. With what they're doing with their goaltending at the moment, I think that they are just trying to stay somewhat competitive until Cossa comes up. Mrazek would be an upgrade over Greiss and he plays his best in a 1A/1B role.

But it was Holland and not Yzerman who traded Mrazek. So I wouldn't say it won't happen but it is unlikely to happen.

Let's stop with Muzzin trades. He's not waiving his NTC to go to a non contender just because Leaf fans want cap space.
Detroit doesn't need help " getting to the floor". So the Wings don't trade for Mrzarek......wouldn't the Wings be a lot better signing a goalie, gee you signed one for 1m.

Muzzins NTC doesn't start until July 1, 2023 as per capfriendly - he also is only owed 2 million in salary and a 2 million signing bonus in each of his last two seasons. The leafs can absolutely deal Muzzin to whoever they want this summer...if they wait until after they pay his 2M signing bonus he will only be owed 6M in the final two years of his deal with a 5.625 cap hit. Not a bad pickup for a cash strapped cap floor team who wants a veteran addition to their lineup who can play in their top 4 D. Not saying it will happen, but if Muzz comes back healthy and the leafs want to move his cap hit, they will have options.
