I was going to say the Canes trade was the worst, but then I saw that Jackets trade. Yeah that is bad. Bad is probably an understatement, but the point is there.

As for the Canes trade, there is no need for the Canes to make that trade. Nino is a consistent 20+ goal scorer and he fits perfectly on the Canes third line with Staal and Fast. I can’t see Poulin or Rust filling the role that Nino has. Rust would be more expensive than Nino for their next contract, and personally, I would take the player who is better defensively, cheaper, and also has amazing chemistry with his linemates. I don’t know if Poulin would be the top 6 plug the Canes would be looking for, and POJ, has been decent with Wilkes Barre, but in his small sample size at the NHL, he hasn’t been that good. Plus, him needing a new contract isn’t exactly ideal. I would say Canes pass based on the fit the players provide.

But looking at the other trades, no chance Columbus sells Laine for that low, no chance Pittsburgh buys that high on Anderson, and I think Vegas would keep the cheaper, and arguably better player, at least from this season.

If the Habs have to take 2 contracts back and 1 of them having a decent cap hit, id be expecting a lot more for Anderson. If you remove them, then the value is closer
