Not helping a divisional rival get out of that bad JVR contract while also offering up the #2....

I think Konecny should probably cover the difference between #2 and #5. At least on paper. May not be what Fitzy is looking for though. He has spoken about adding “heavier skill” on wing. More Hayes types than Konecny types.

(Not that Hayes plays wing)

Big disagree, I'd want the Devils to jump on this if offered.
Konecny is great.
Wood is very expendable, given how many NHL ready forwards Devils have lying around.
JvR's cap doesn't hurt the Devils in anyway whatsoever, can easily double retain and flip him somewhere else.
And to top it all of, at #5 Devils may have their pick in whomever of Slaf, Nemec, Cooley or Jiricek still available.
It's not like Flyers are gonna improve massively next season anyway.

This is the exact type of trade the Devils should steer clear of. Either get a slam dunk like Tkachuk or Pasta or u keep the pick. Konecny doesn't move the needle much for us next year

Weird, I think the exact type of trade the Devils should steer clear of is Pasta. Tkachuk is a pipedream.
The difference between Slaf, Nemec, Cooley and Jiricek is minimal to me, so having a guarantee in picking one of them and adding Konecny on top of that is a no brainer.
Other than seeing a massive difference in those 4 prospects or really not rating Konecny (which would be dumb) I see no reason why Devils should pass on this.

Wouldn't you prefer having this forward lineup for next year with Konecny in it than without?

Sharangovich - Hughes - Konecny
Holtz - Hischier - Bratt
Johnsson - Mercer - Zetterlund
Kuokkanen - McLeod - Bastian

Like it's either Konecny or one of Zacha, Tatar, Foote, Boqvist, Thompson etc...
