Description
Like the Title says im tired of people Dumping Dvorak.
They woke up with Caufield putting the blame on Ducharme
They woke up with Petry after they realized He scored 21/28pts in 30 under MSL
Why wont they wake up with Dvorak?

72% Faceoff Win Rate under MSL
Unlike Ducharme he's not Defensive Zone Faceoffs Only
MSL doesnt punish him because Poehling sucks are Faceoffs in DZ
Instead he punishes Poehling giving Pitlick and Dauphin his 3rd line role demoting him
Neither of them can win a faceoff, they replaced him cause they win puck battles

My Point is MSL knows how to use Dvorak
We'd want to keep him especially given the low price we paid.
He'll be still worth more in 5 years then KK or either pick will become
Why? His Faceoff Ability alone like Cullen will keep him in the NHL long after his offense dries up because he's so dominant there. He's the right guy to keep around to train Suzuki and Wright IMO

My Focus here is on Building a Contender
While also collecting another Lotto pick like FLA
Unless they trade Bobo they lost 1/2 their team with 4m cap

Chiarot once moved to RD in MTL for 9 games after TML asked to see him showcased there in our match up he went 9 pts in 9 games before traded. Romanov set him up for 1 timers and they created offensive chances he and others jumped on. Chiarot is here until Mailloux will be ready then again we can trade him to a contender. We have the void and he's the best and cheapest option a team like MTL will attract. Plus i really like the Physical Dominance Romanov-Chiarot showed. I mean Eddy on Romanov's Right side had some good looks but few converted into actual points they were just physically dominating. With Barron it seem Romanov is less physical focusing more on protecting his young partner.

I just feel going forward the safest option for Romanov to pair with is Chiarot.
The runner up to that woulda been Subban return which i like as he's a living reminder of what chasing money over taking less to build a contender will cost you. He's still a good player to i just couldnt justify the 5m im sure he'll land from someone who wants to sell Jersey's.

Now i said im building a contender and i meant it
But that relies on AHL players Ghule,Xhekaj,Mysak,Ylonen,Trudeau,Kidney and Simmoneau among others who aged out or are entering the AHL next year. Kidney and Trudeau could go back but their teams are rebuilding word around the Q is and they'll move on. (see it a lot in Moncton over the years like Pandemic start we went all in and were top 3 in Canada then no playoffs. Forced a rebuild and Pelltier left early as did Spence and the Andersson

We have a good mix of players in Laval who are currently in the ECF in the AHL that is looking to get a huge boost from our depth pool. Its looking like Ghule is gonna be facing off against Xhekaj and Mysak in the Memorial Cup so there's Quality there to not just quantity.

Their jobs is to push out NHL'ers by doing so good they make us trade a Byron, Hoffman,Evans,Eddy or Allen. Ylonen in particular is looking to make that sooner then later as his defensive game which is usually lacking has really stepped up this playoffs.

Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Johnson, Tyler
  2. 2023 1st round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
CHI trade 1st round pick Top 3 protected for Jeff Petry Bundle and MTL to RS 50% on Kane or Toews to help maximize CHI returns.

CHI caps tight and RS of 5.25m on 1/3 players they're likely to sell is possible for sure. After that though it gets sketchy and much cheaper this way with more to show for it if you're CHI

Swapping Johnson & a 1st for Petry and Drouin
It gives CHI options as they can get more for Drouin then Johnson given how steep and fast his decline was vs his contract. Now they are in a position to sell Toews 50% RS, Kane 50% RS Via MTL & Drouin 50% RS for a profit

Before anyone starts about Drouin being banged up Hanzal and Timonen were both traded on IR at the deadline for a Premium. Both were in Decline and Both Retired not long after so Drouin's issues arent very concerning to me as its mental (take him outta MTL we're hard on players, you could give up McJesus, Our fans would as for God)
CHI
  1. Drouin, Jonathan ($2,750,000 retained)
  2. Petry, Jeff
Additional Details:
Jones/Petry/Murphy to play with the many young LD from Mitchell to Beaudin to Harding. Their RD quality is about as bare as MTL's was before Barron /Mailloux so the stability will help them as a stop/gap until they draft RD of Quality.
2.
MTL
  1. Faksa, Radek
Additional Details:
Basically same contract
We're just swapping a position you're in need of for one that MTL is in need of as well. With Faksa gone DAL is still set but they've only got 5 Right Handed Shots of which 1 asked for a trade and 1 is buried in the AHL. RD like Savard helps them more then Faksa
DAL
  1. Savard, David
Additional Details:
Faksa is probably top 5 in Defensive Zone Faceoffs in the NHL and is an ideal 4th line Center to play with Armia in particular.

MTL is ALWAYS injured at Center each and every year.
It will happen again this year im sure and that's where Faksa's secondary value is because he can play middle 6 Center confidentally just doesnt have the offense for it long term

They're now in a position where they cannot trade both Kane and Toews at 50% RS
Go check it out they're pretty well f'd with who they got to resign vs what they have

Whats worse?
Giving up a 1st rounder you've got top 3 protection on?
Not getting to trade a Toews or a Kane for the multiple 1st's +++ they'll no doubt get ?

They'll have to make this deal with someone to RS at 50%
This way they get Petry back giving them Value at the cost of Johnson who's provided none for them
Bad as Drouin's been for missing games its not nearly as bad as its been for Johnson when he shows up to his

What? Why can't they retain on both Kane and Toews? Like I can't think of a single reason why. Please explain. Also Petry doesn't ahve value. His contract is like slightly better Brent Burns

I think in the trade above he is taking 50% retention on one of the contracts in that bundle without actually taking the player so they can move them with even less money.

Petry also has value and will be dealt for positive assets this off season.

This is a horrible deal for MTL.

So I'm banging my head against the wall here. How is petry and drouin helping their cap number at all, they're adding dollars there. Chicago won't do that deal anyways. If they do move Kane and toews and go full rebuild they aren't trading 1st rounders for older dmen and retaining would mean nothing on what's left of those deals.
