    My understanding is that you can't get the 8th year on Gaudreau anymore. I could be completely wrong, but my understanding is that they changed the rule to where you now have to have the player by the trade deadline to be able to offer the 8th year.

    As a Caps fan, I agree with you. But most Isles ACGM's I see send Varly to us so I don't know.
