Description
Do these transactions improve the Wild? Trading Dumba at some point in time (now or during the season) is almost as sure as Fiala was getting traded. We can't afford him next year and gotta get something for him. Garland is a good get with his contract but we are giving up quite a bit in the deal. Hopefully some of our young dmen are ready to step up in 23-24, as we've thinned ourselves out by dealing Addison and Dumba. We save most of our 2023 draft choices, also
Trades
1.
MIN
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (ANA)
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (MIN)
2.
VAN
  1. Addison, Calen
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Schenn is added to this trade for some Dman depth after trading both Dumba and Addison. His 850,000 cap hit tolerable for some depth.

Schenn isn't being moved, he was playing Top-4 minutes last season and is the exact kind of defender the Canucks are wanting to add more of, stay-at-home types. You'd have to take Poolman back if you have to take an RHD back.

Garland is also someone the Canucks are wanting to trade straight up for a Top-4 stay-at-home RHD, not a prospect. Addison would work as part of a bigger package for Miller, but doesn't really move the needle much for Garland, given he's untested and undersized.

If it was Garland + Poolman + 3rd for Addison + 1st (Top-10 Protected), I'd do that. Reason being; Canucks aren't cap-strapped like Minnesota is, Garland is already signed to a really excellent contract with good term, and Addison isn't as good of a prospect as Faber. I don't see the Wild doing that though, I don't think it makes sense for them given the situation they're in.

I hope that it goes without saying that Anaheim would accept that offer.

I'd say only if we could negotiate Dumba to sign an extension upon arrival. Otherwise we are paying a high second and their third back for a rental, which I would say we pass on.
