Description
Aprox. Value for Kerfoot = 2nd and a 4th
Aprox. Value for holl = 5th or 6th
2nd and a 3rd for both seems fair
In terms of why ANA? Well they need to reach the cap floor and Kerfoot fits in to their top 6 nicely, while Holl adds some stability on the back end. They could very well do this through FA but considering ANA is rumoured to be looking at Kerfoot I figured the trade makes sense. They could also re flip at the deadline to accumulate those picks back if they are out of the playoff race.

Bless your little heart for beating me to the punch on this one. Combine that with the fact that paying assets to clear space for another team is incredibly stupid when there's 10 (!!!) that are currently over the cap and will have to dump players anyway (Some have it sorted with LTIR, others not so much...), and the Ducks won't be competitive this year. Kerfoot and Holl don't change that.

If we are lucky, cause something has to give as we are over the cap, is a trade like this for a b-c prospect who is a tweener

I agree a 2nd and 3rd round pick for Kerfoot and Holl might be fair value under normal circumstances and if the Leafs weren't currently over the salary cap, but Leafs won't get fair value. They will need to sell low to unload any salary. Ducks aren't giving up a 2nd and 3rd when other teams in a cap crunch will include picks/prospects to dump salary. Ducks might trade at best a 5th and 6th for Kerfoot and Holl if they plan to flip them at TDL for more/higher picks.

Aprox. Value for Kerfoot = 2nd and a 4th
Aprox. Value for holl = 5th or 6th
2nd and a 3rd for both seems fair

Could you elaborate on this? Forget about the valuations being incorrect as already dictated by the market this summer, I am just curious as to how a 2 a 4 and a 6th round value gets you an offer for a 2 and 3rd rounder?
