Because the Sabres forward group is loaded already and Foligno adds nothing at this point in his career. Also Whynot was drafted By Calgary

Often adding a faded veteran, contributes nothing to young team, except block the development of others. Looks like the Sabres are trying to develop their own core...those with long term contracts. IMO, I like that approach better. If the Sabres wanted to take on bad cap for veteran player, maybe it would be wiser to take a player from cap strapped team, and then try to trade that player at TDL for an asset with retention.

Sabres would not take Foligno unless they got a second and a third imo. And Boston would probably have to take Bjork back in the deal.

I don't think Buffalo needs Foligno. He's washed up. Okposo seems to be a good vet leader for the young kids and Granato is the perfect head coach for this team. He's getting the most out of them.

Last night was a perfect example. They get down 1-0 to Ottawa and in the past the Sabres would panic and get down by 2 or 3. But they stayed the course and ended up winning the game.
