i looked and they don't have a lot of forward signed in 2023-2024 and pitlick is a great value to cap hit player so i don't see why they wouldn't be interested

That's by design. They have 2 guys signed past 2025. Kotkaniemi and Svechnikov. EVERYONE else expires. That means Aho is going to need a big pay check, Slavin, Pesce will get raises, they have to work out the goaltending again, Jarvis. Necas, Coghlan will need new deals. On top of that need to replace or re-sign Skjei, Martinook, Stepan, Stastny, Burns etc etc. No need for Pitlick. That's not a good enough reason to subtract from a contending team in a year they're expected to go deep. Bear could be moved because the Canes have an overload of RD (Burns, Pesce, Coghlan, Chatfield) and the cap savings could be used at the deadline to go get someone like a Tarasenko or a Kane. Draft picks and futures make more sense. Plus, where would Rem play right now? He's not splitting up the line that has been the Canes best so far this year (Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Necas). He's not knocking Svechnikov or Jarvis out of the top line. He's not replacing Stastny or Fast on the Staal line. That means they're trading a good D man that can play reliable top 4 minutes for someone that would effectively be a 4th line guy.
