Description
Hear me out: Calgary needs to stop pretending they are a contender. They're not: They can't close, hold a lead and are too slow to make it deep into the playoffs. I say they let the kids play and recoup assets for the draft. If they get worse, fine... we draft higher.

Markstrom is still a great goalie. I know flames fans will hate me for trading him and Buffalo fans will think he is worthless from his past few starts. He has the yips. You'll notice the last few months, he gives up one dumb goal and then returns to form. It's all mental, and the change will be a win for everyone.

Coleman will only waive for somewhere closer to home and I figure Arizona could use a TWF winger to stabilize the kids. Honestly, they need a center but I dont see Calgary providing that.

Mangiapane would slay with Barzal (IMO). Cizikas is to balance out the cap, and replace Rooney when we send him to the minors.

There's not many goalies I would move an early first for.

My thought was that it wouldn't be that early if Markstrom played like he could. I've watched a few Buffalo games this year and I honestly think they are just a few pieces from being a playoff team.

If that were the cost for Markstrom it wouldn’t make a ton of sense for Buffalo. Even with top 10 protection on the pick, Buffalo has several young goaltenders coming up and no desire to block them with an expensive veteran.

Several?

Also, he is signed for 3 years after this.

If all goes well that is a fine transition to Levi
