-I still think the smart money is on Vancouver keeping Boeser through the season and moving him in the summer, when they can get more teams involved in the talks and get a better return. Right now, the only teams that have the cap space to absorb Boeser's deal are the lottery teams - the exact type of teams that aren't going to offer up a ton of futures for a guy about to turn 26 making $6.65M. I do think that whatever Vancouver winds up getting for Boeser does look something like this - a pair of futures and a short-term bad deal like Hoffman's $4.5M that expires after '23-24.

-Avs aren't trading their 1st for Monahan. It just isn't happening. Between the 2021 and 2023 drafts, they've already traded 11 of their 21 possible picks, including everything before the 6th round last year and their 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounders this year. They won the Cup last year, so they're not going to make a desperation move like trading *another* 1st round pick for a middle-6 upgrade. They're most likely just going to wait for their team to get healthy and run it back with what they have.

-Said it in another Habs thread, I could see the Oilers moving whoever they like less out of Bourgault and Holloway for D help. Not sure if it's Edmundson, but if he's healthy and getting back to form, well...there are worse deals out there. I still think they aim their sights higher than this.

-I like Boqvist, but if I'm the Jackets, I think I take this? They've got depth at RD (Peeke/Gudbranson/Blankenburg/Jiricek/Ceulemans) and hey, it's a '23 1st. Worst case they can flip the pick out on draft day for a player at a position of need.

All bets are off if Boqvist suddenly sets the world on fire when he gets back from injury, but as of right now that looks like an acceptable deal to the Jackets.
