If Kane was acquired on the actual day of the deadline, March 3rd, and CHI retains 50%, his cap hit would be just under $1.2M. That is more than manageable and would be an absolute steal for any team acquiring him. It is also job security for the GM because Kane's actual salary owed will be so low at that point, ownership will barely have to pay any real money to acquire a superstar talent for a cup run. They might even get a cap dump out of it which would make the trade look even better. I hear all these people screaming and hollering, but any GM in their right mind would be ecstatic to have Kaner for a cup run. Once he is wearing your sweater and contributing, everyone will shut up and watch.
