Description
Let's say Edmundson at 50 % retained for 2 years fetched a 2023 first round pick from a playoff team (which is a realistic considering Chiarot's return and that Edmundson has more term than him), what would have to be added for a Edmundson (50 % retained) for Durzi swap to be fair for both sides and realistic (not what their value should actually be but instead what their value WILL be)?

Pretty even realistically since GMs values big defenseman so highly

Throw in a guy like Kupari or a third for retention and Habs accept. Durzi is better than Eddy imo but they play a very different game. LA doesn't have an Eddy type player, MTL doesn't have a Durzi type player. But, using the Chiarot trade as a model I think MTL asks for more (even if he isn't worth it)

Kings won't be in on Edmundson, yes he eats the minutes of a top-4 defenseman, hits, and blocks shots, but pretty much everything else he does is not a fit for the Kings, and would be a downgrade from Durzi. If the Kings are moving a 1st or similar asset (like Durzi), Chychrun or Gavrikov (with extension), is where they are looking.

Like Edmundson isn't the best defenseman on a rookie defense, it's bad.

The Kings GM has the old Habs GM as his advisor, I don't think someone with such intel on the team would spend so much on Edmundson, he isn't the long term answer the Kings are looking for.

I don't think your argument about Bergy being an advisor to Blake holds the weight you think it does, with respect. Edmundson is the kind of guy Bergevin would be aggressive in acquiring.
