Description
I think this could be a good mix for the Bruins. Go all in with a player like Toews but with a price low enough to not give up Lohrei/Lysell. I add Beecher to take on Mike Reilly's contract. Could also trade Reilly somewhere else, but that was just a thought. Also if Toews enjoys his time in Boston, he could be a 1-2 year buffer for the Bruins if we can resign him. He could fit well with Marchand & Debrusk if Bergy retires. We would need a 3rd team to retain more salary to make this all work, but if we could do that then we could keep our best prospects, our 1st round pick, and potentially fit some depth pieces like a Schenn or Bjugstad in case of injuries.

Trading Zboril to Arizona could work if they decide to finally trade Chychrun, they could have a similar style player to replace him for at least a year.

For the lineup. Smith is playing better with Bergy/Marchand. Toews and Hall could be the perfect pair to get Smith back on track and back to his 10-15 goal usual. If not worst case he is benched and we have Hall-Toews-Frederic and Foligno-Coyle-Nosek/Bjugstad.

So your giving Arizona zaboril and a 5th to take Wagner, retain and move bjugstad, and retain on toews. I mean they can only retain on 3 players that return isn't really going to be enough for them to do it for 2 of them.

Hawks will get back to you 5 minutes before the deadline to see if they get a better offer. Or maybe they just won't call back and keep Toews.

Especially when OEL is tying up one long-term already.

Other teams are going to want to ask about retention for Ghost or Ritchie, etc. And the return on Ghost retained alone is going to blow away Zboril, a dump, and a late pick.

They aren't passing on good returns elsewhere for a fifth or even a fourth as I often see. The opportunity cost isn't worth it.
