Klingberg may be having a rough year, but he's also been around the league long enough for his body of work to speak for itself. He is still our premier trade chip for this season.

Two future mid round picks and a prospect at our deepest position is not going to get the deal done if you want retention. Make it the 23 2nd and Vincent Iorio.

Awful value on the Vancouver trade for Washington and it's already been reported that there are no legs to anything connecting Boeser to DC. I certainly wouldn't trade Alexeyev to facilitate a trade that puts more strain on the salary cap when Mantha is a good, though tragically misused, player with a cheaper contract.

Also no thank you to the Anaheim trade, Klingberg looks rouuuuuugh and will likely be too expensive to properly consider. I'd rather go for a cheaper RD option who can fill the same role, such as Gudas (if Florida sells), Soucy, or one of Roy/Walker.

If Caps do that VAN deal it would be a straight swap of Mantha and Boeser, no need to throw in anything else.

Lucas Johansen is essentially an unsuccessful first-rounder from 2016 at LhD, where we already have Pavel Mintyukov, Olen Zellweger and other possibilities. (Compare him to guys taken behind him, like Andrew Peeke [34], Sam Girard [47], Ryan Lindgren [49], and Filip Hronek [53], to say nothing of the three guys drafted ahead of him (Sergachev, McAvoy and Chychrun).) My friend @GiggyWithGibby's formulation is right: your 2023 second and Vincent Iorio would be acceptable, but not too much else without your 2023 first, and you shouldn't be trading that.
