Honestly I would rather keep Zadina in hopes he develops into something. Players like Greenway aren't that difficult to find in my opinion.

Wings say no. 1.825 cap hit vs 3.00 cap hit. If Greenway doesn't pan out in Detroit, they have 1.175m less in cap space but similar production.

Zadina is also 23 and Greenway is 25. Zadina still has 2 more year to figure out his game before he's 25. There's still a slight hope in Zadina and that's worth hanging onto. there no hope in Greenway. Greenway is now 25 and we know exactly what his career potential is. A 4th line checker.

Personally, I think Detroit says no. It seems the org is really standing behind Zadina and trying to get him as much support as possible. Some examples are giving him a 3 year deal (which easily could've been a 1-2 yr deal instead), not rushing him back to get straight into NHL games after injury, and working with his mental health situation (he's seeking counseling and also has a support dog now). I think we're still trying to massage out his game and get him to the level that we really think he can get to.
