Description

This would still keep the team very competitive and help them ride through to the massive cap increase predicted for 2024 and 2025.

If you don’t trade Ullmark you trade Swayman for a deal very similar a team trying to offer sheet him would have to give up a 1st and 3rd to pay him this much and we’d match. But keeping both next year won’t be an option, Bussi will be backing up on the Big squad next year.

Moving hall out was purely to free up money for Betuzzi who I think had a higher ceiling and recovering draft picks.

Moving Gryz Fred up the money to sign Hathaway and pay Trent while also recovering draft assets. Plus Mason Lohrei is projecting to be a very similar player to him and will be on an ELC and cheap second contract for years to come when Gryz is going to be due a raise after next season.

The Blackhawks don't need Hall right now, they certainly are not going to give up picks for a cap dump.

No doubt Swayman has some good numbers in his very young career, but I don't think it is wise to move on from Ullmark just yet. Especially with the season he is having. I'm sure you can probably get Swayman on a 2 or 3 year deal at 3M and wait for the cap to rise. There are other players you can move out to make the money work.

I can see Bertuzzi asking for more but it’s Boston so maybe he’ll take that!

Question for you, i’m wondering about Krejci and Bergeron bonus on their respective contract. Will this affect the Bruins cap next year ?

I have no faith Ullmark can keep this up for 2 years so, my opinion, cash in while he's at the most valuable and commit to the young kid. Bussi is also very good and will be a more than capable back up for minimum money. I'd rather pay Swayman/Bussi under $6M instead of Ull/Swayman $8-9M+ and use the savings to reinforce the Top 9.
